Coach Richie is a phenomenal coach. He shows how to win from the armbar position
Many good techniques but missing some depth and details
it help me alot to get the armbar
This instructional by Richie Martinez teaches a range of No-Gi armbars with a focus on the spiderweb, with techniques taught assuming that the opponent will be resisting (e.g., clasping hands, trying to posture, etc). The armbar techniques taught include: knee on belly (i.e., near and far side arm); the spiderweb position including the bicep slicer option; from a position where your legs are in the butterfly guard position commencing with an armdrag and finishing in the spiderweb; passing the sitting guard to a rolling kimura and finishing with an armbar; a hybrid flower sweep to spiderweb armbar; a hip bump sweep to high mount to S-mount and finishing with a spiderweb armbar; from a back control position rotating the opponent into a triangle armbar; a response to the previous technique for situations where the opponent attempts to counter the rotation by leaning forward and you respond by immediately going to a rubber guard position, which leads directly to an armbar; and from a closed guard using a clinch to go to the inverted armbar with another armbar option, if the opponent successfully uses a limp arm to escape their trapped arm. The instructional has a total runtime of 1 hour and 12 minutes. In my opinion, Ritchie Martinez is easy to listen to and when speaking he stays focused on the content, which I appreciate (i.e., next to no unnecessary banter). Techniques are taught at a good pace and in my experience are not difficult to learn. Having watched this instructional several times I believe that it is easy to watch. Ritchie Martinez explains with an appropriate level of detail and demonstrates the techniques clearly. The demonstrations are smooth and consistent and importantly the Uke clearly understands what is required. As is the norm, techniques are demonstrated multiple times from different angles. Sound and video are good, noting the general limitations of a single fixed camera. Can’t help but mention that the lighting is fantastic, however there is a very minor distraction, where on several occasions the video goes out of focus for a couple of seconds. The quality of the video and sound are consistent with the available previews. In summary, this is a great concise instructional to learn a range of No-Gi armbars including a focus on teaching an effective and efficient armbar from the spiderweb position. Highlights for me were the two techniques commencing from the back - seat belt control, which are fun and effective.
This video benefited me as a white belt more than any other instructional that I have seen so far.
Valuable insights onto one of the two most important positions to know for EBI Overtime.
Really helped me with my trouble finishing armbars
Great tactics in this one
Richie Martinez AKA The Boogeyman, changed my mind completely on armbars. As a Gracie white belt and a beginner, I felt that armbars were such weak submissions because they were always so easy to counter. Behold, the 10th planet spider web system, made my armbars a force to be reckoned with. Just one extra detail in my technique changed my entire life! The flows AKa drills were amazing as it showed me how to enter the spider web system from different positions! The instructions from The Boogeyman were clear, direct and precise. I highly recommend this video content!
This was a great simple instructional by the boogeyman himself. A lot of great techniques and details, presented as clear as day. I have definitely seen a change in my spiderweb ArmBar game already, just by using a few techniques discussed in the instructional. Great work.
