  P. S. created a series based on 2 on 1 pistol grip entries by initiating the grips or breaking grips and gaining the 2 on 1 pistol grip or denying your opponents grips. He points out very clear that this grips are transitional whether to prevent the guard passing or launching your attacks. The attacks are built around seated guard/butterfly guard getting a belt grip straight away or trough midsteps from underhooks. The sweeping game is created around the hook sweep and its variations. It covers techniques against kneeling opponents, one or the other knee up kneeling opponents as well as standing opponents. It also covers setups for getting the grips from standing, kneeling and sitting. An amazing instructional!!

• part 2 of of the pistol 2 on 1 series.

  This instructional picks up where pistol 2 on 1 left off to explore more open and sit-up guard scenarios. I had A LOT of success with the closed guard series, and my open/sit-up guard game is pretty weak, so I was excited to grab this. While you don't necessarily need to watch the closed guard, I think I got a little more out of it as a lot of the same concepts and theories come up. Paul's teaching style is very heavy on on theory, light on technique. Ergo, the better you understand the theory, the easier and more achievable the techniques become. While I was able to pull of some of the moves from closed guard immediately after viewing it, I needed a some practice and drilling before I could make this work- it's a more sophisticated part of the game (and as I mentioned, a weakness for me). Either way, these moves have become the backbone of my butterfly and sit-up game.
