Dutch Kickboxing for the win
When I first started coaching I told people my MMA striking is based mostly on Dutch Kickboxing, though it was idealist. Melvin Manhoef was one of the monsters who created the sentiment. This isn’t just “punch hard” or get jacked, it’s articulate and comes with some humility from a scary man (in the ring/cage). There are great explanations of counters and why we use what when. Melvin also touches on some bad ideas as a striker, which is important. If footwork is your thing and you train strictly Muay Thai for MMA competition, learn the way of the Dutch K1 style. It’s loose and translates better I believe.
