Thorough and Well Planned
Bought this video as I'm not familiar with this move and wanted to add variety when working from the mount. First of all I love how the majority is shown on a much bigger opponent, giving more credibility to the material. Explanations are simple to implement but detailed and the instructor changes angles to give the best view on each step. Also there is a useful trouble shooting section with footage from live rolls. The structure and instruction style really clicks with me and I'm looking forward to more instructionals from Crystal Nadeau (like for the no-gi Ezekiel mentioned).
Good
Good instructional on the Subject but a bit repetitive at times.
Helped alot with my control. I recommend this for sure
mounted triangle
good information on mounted triangle
I learned a lot about How to do the mounted triangle, but also How to go for high mount and How to maintain it. Hope to see other tutorial from her.
Pragmatic, Wholistic, Well-Presented
A solid introduction to an oddly under-explored technique/position, at least on the Fanatics site. Some instructionals touch on it briefly -- particularly those geared toward advanced practitioners -- but this is the first I've seen that is (a) wholly dedicated to the subject and (b) consumable for beginners without feeling like a bonus "fluff" move. The instructor is competent and charismatic and her YouTube experience has given here a clear grasp of production and editing, which is a plus. It's nice to watch an instructional created by someone who knows how to give you enough explanation from enough angles to help you get a grasp of the nuances without getting bogged down with excessive detail, endless repetitions and unhelpful side tangents. I've been trying to implement mounted triangles into my game for some time now with mixed success -- mainly because actually locking the triangle from mount without losing balance or jamming yourself up is difficult. Nadeau offers simple solutions to those basic problems (which is super helpful to me personally), while also covering her bases with tried and true set-up and finishing details as well as ways to troubleshoot common problems. The instructional is rounded out by simple demonstrations on how to fight your way toward the mounted triangle from multiple positions, both on the ground and from standing -- a "whole game" approach similar to Alexandre Vieira's "Linking Half Guard And Pressure Passing" or Bernardo Faria's "Transition Mastery" -- which is an important consideration in general but especially important to the beginner who has yet to grasp the "big picture" of their game. I particularly enjoy her "broken" scarf hold / kuzure kesa gatme attacks because I'm already a big fan of traditional kesa and she's helped me to see opportunities and overlaps which I had previously missed. Note: At the time of filming Nadeau is a blue belt. A competitive blue belt, but a blue belt nonetheless, and that may be off-putting to some buyers who have become accustomed to buying from big name black belts and ONLY from big name black belts. This caveat aside, I found this instructional quite helpful and I hope Nadeau sticks with jiu jitsu all the way to black belt. I'd love to see what new details she discovers along the way.
