The reviews
Very good!
Very nice self defense primer that everyone should know for when things on the street get real.
Very good Bjj self defense strategies
I liked the mindset about training sport Bjj but with a self defense view. Always tried to do that in my journey, this instructional gives some nice points and techniques to train with.
good info
Good basic self defense info. Focused on grappling based tactics to avoid taking damage and facilitate an escape.
Apply your BJJ for street situations
The video course is short but useful, it covers basic but necessary and functional things than you can use above all if you have done Judo or BJJ, but you will be able to learn them if not too. In addition it covers important psychological aspects.
Excellent
One of my favorite BJJF videos out of my vast collection. Get this one!

Self Defense at its best! Straight Blast Gym Coach does a superb job!
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:My favorite new BJJ Fanatics Instructional!
So much to like here. Sharp not only gives you the techniques/concepts to defend yourself in street situations, but also provides “aliveness” drills so what he teaches can be pressure tested and better retained. He also demystifies the “street vs sport” argument and calls BS on it. His teaching style is incredibly understandable and his personality is very relatable. I like the fact that he is both a BJJ black belt and has 20+ years as a police officer. Great credentials for knowing how to apply BJJ skills on the street. His instruction is just enough for you to thoroughly understand what is being taught. This instructional comes with my highest recommendation!
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Really good
Paul Sharp is a great instructor, and turned a very serious subject into one that is approachable and positive. More series with Paul, please.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Great!
Easy to follow filled with simple concepts and very useful info
Realistic and simple
I've had the fortune of taking a seminar with Paul Sharp in person - his teaching style comes across as well in this instructional as in person. There is a lot out there with regard to self defense strategies but Paul Sharp cuts through a lot of nonsense and gives you basic simple techniques that allow you to apply your bjj. Anyone interested in self defense or who is part of the Shivworks family would learn from this instructional.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Outstanding Material from a Great Instructor
Paul is an amazing instructor, with a comprehensive knowledge of Jiu Jitsu for real world self defense. He is one of those rare instructors who has made his martial art work across multiple dimensions from sport, to cage, to street. I'm very fortunate to have trained with him. Do yourself a favor and don't pass on the opportunity to train with him.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Great Video
This video is a great way to contextualize the jiu-jitsu that you already know for self defense. If you are new to jiu-jitsu this is also a great series that demonstrates, practical, easy to learn and easy to use techniques, that work. In a self defense scenario, you do not need a bunch of fancy moves. You need simple techniques that you can execute under pressure. If you train at a sport focused academy this series is a refreshing look at why we are training BJJ 10 hours a week, If you ever get a chance to take an in-person seminar with Paul you should not miss the opportunity.
