Review
Great instructional for people who have no clue about grips. He gives a great overview of the types of grips and their purpose
The overlooked grips
I started on the mat in JuDo. Watching this instructional I realized that many practitioners including myself tend to overlook the importance of the grip game.
Makes it look easy
Concepts are really well explained. Not just about grips, but footwork and various takedowns too.
Very good
Good grips breaking tactics and basic throws.
Super Interesting
Great explanation of the classic fundamentals that you may have missed.
Excellent for BJJ guys with no judo experience
I've never formally trained in judo so I learned a lot from this instructional. The skills are useful both for your standup and groundwork. The techniques are easy to learn and immediately applicable. I hope this instructor does more stuff in the future. It's good value as well, especially if you can get it with a discount.
very good
a very good judo jjb tutorial that will give you the basics and concepts that you ignore in standing game.
Great video, just what I
Great video, just what I needed to improve my stand up technique.
Five stars
Very cool standing grip fighting system
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:very good overview of grips
This is a great overview of grips and defending grips used in BJJ. one thing that was lacking in my gameplan was how to appropriately defend certain grips. I would get caught and lack the knowledge to get out of the grip. this provides a good base and starting point for learning all of the most common grips used in the gi. very useful especially if you are going into gi grappling from a no gi perspective and are not fully away of all the extra tools the go can bring. but also important to know so you can defend well.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Great
Very well instructed and I recommend this for anyone who's having trouble grip fighting in the Gi

Videos like this are a great reference material for BJJ students that wish to improve their takedown confidence.
Breaking and establishing grips and using them for basic throws. Detailed instruction.
Excellent instruction on something that is often neglected in BJJ schools. Fernando shows the proper way to break grips and establish your own. He explains why your opponent will grip you in various ways and how to counter. He explains the control each grip will give you and how to use that for off balancing and then towards the end he covers many basic throws using the gripping system.

My favorite instructional
This is by far the best instructional for the money on BJJ Fanatics. Fernando Yamasaki goes into detail about grip fighting and teaches some very good ashi waza techniques. I hope Sensei Yamasaki makes more instructionals of this caliber.

He's an amazing instructor and practitioner. I highly recommend Fernando's instructional.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Increased awareness to the importance of grips
I bought this DVD because smaller people in my gym we’re giving me trouble when it came to grips. This video has caused me to direct my training on grips. There are some gems (maybe basics-for some) on this DVD. Also, Fernando is very good at teaching the drills and explains the concept so well. I hope to see more from him in the future. I’m still lacking and have difficulty understanding grips in bottom position and in NOGI. Hope he can do one on those subjects.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Good instructional on grip control
There aren't many instructionals that teaches grip controls besides Travis Stevens, Jimmy Pedro, and Fernardo Yamasaki (instructor in this video). They're important to know, esp. for good takedowns. Plus, he teaches each techniques down well, and showed how they're used to perform the takedowns in this video, which is very important (Transitions!). I highly recommend it.
