  Excellent overview of attacking the turtle, escaping back control and escaping turtle. I definitely recommend Troy Manning's instructionals for anyone looking for a systematic approach to certain positions or techniques

• A comprehensive Instructional on turtle attacks and escapes and includes coverage on back control attacks and escapes

  This is a comprehensive No-Gi instructional primarily teaching attacking an opponent in the turtle position and escaping from the turtle position. Additionally, the instructional provides coverage on back control attacks and escapes (14 techniques). In total there are 52 techniques taught and this is provided in one volume, with a total runtime of 50 minutes. Please be aware that the video is not indexed, so you can’t directly go for example to technique 33 - Armbar. I imagine this is because there are so many techniques for a single volume. The sound and picture quality are good but be aware that the instructional is filmed in monochrome. This does not significantly detract from the presentation, but in 2021 it is unusual for an instructional not to be in colour. Have a look at the preview to see if it is an issue for you. It is great that the camera operator moved around the demonstration to get good angles and zoom in to film the detail. Unfortunately, too many instructionals are filmed with a fixed camera and at times it can be difficult to clearly see the detail. In my opinion there are definitely good techniques in this instructional. Troy’s instructions are clear, direct and with an appropriate level of detail. The approach he takes with the instructionals that I have purchased so far, is to be clear and concise, with a focus on the technique. There is no attempt to discuss the theory or background to the technique. In my opinion this is not a problem if you purchase this instructional knowing that the time is spent teaching the technique not the theory. If you require more theory, then there are other much longer and more expensive instructionals for this. I recommend this instructional, particularly if the turtle position interests you, as I don’t think you will be disappointed.
