I was rolling with a Purple belt who kept getting me in all sorts of leg entanglement techniques and I just felt helpless so decided to check this series out by Lachlan. I have a lot of videos by Akins, Garcia, Ryan and Danaher but I have more by Lachlan; don’t get me wrong they are all legends in their win right but Lachlan’s way of teaching and style just fits in perfectly with the way I think and move. I particularly love the video summary recap at the end of each technique, all shown at a variety of different speeds and angles - this just reinforces it more into your memory and is a nice touch.
The entire No Gi Open Guard trilogy is excellent and outlines an entire fleshed out open guard game. I love the 70/30 details, it is quickly becoming a "headquarters" type position for me on bottom.
Lachlan knocks it out the park again!
I really liked the content in this video, it does build off the rest of the series in some ways but it is still OK and pretty useful on its own. I ended up buying all 3 though in the end.
Another outstanding Instructional from Lachlan Giles Cant recommend enough
Can't go wrong with Lachlan, I will buy all of his work based solely on his ADCC performance. Amazing.
Lachlan's instructional series are generally great as throughout lockdown I've collected almost all of the. You'll find lnlsed pearls of wisdom in this material. I can say your expectations will be met and exceeded in his teaching style because the conceptual and principle based explanations he uses really help things sink in.
I have a lot of Lachlans videos. And this one did not dissapoint me. His open guard game fits me really well.
Lachlan is a really good teacher
Fantastic instructional! Lachlan is top coach in the world and like all of his instructionals this is exceptional work! If you only had 1 person to mirror or learn from Lachlan would be the one.
Always great explanations
As always the production quality of Professor Gile's instructionals are exemplatory as is the quality of the teaching. An excellent continuance of the "No gi open guard series".
Giles is both a high level competitor and a master instructor. He hits the details thst cover the situations thst happen in rolls and matches.
Great instructional
Well put together as usual, a real game changer
I own the other 2 open guard instructional from Giles. Absolute gold content, depth of material and Giles doesn’t spare on detail of instructional. I am really impressed by the content and value for money. Cannot speak highly enough of his instructionals!
All of Lachlan’s material will level up your game. You should definitely get these especially when they are on sale.
Lachlan provides the highest level of instruction. This deep dive in to RDLR is gold; entries, attacks and troubleshooting. The is so much material that it will take a long time to fully understand everything that is available.
I agree with another reviewer, this is absolute gold. Prof Lachlan did not create a three-volume series on the open guard in order to sell more instructionals. He created a three-volume series because that is what it took to explain in detail all the transitions. You can stop on volume one, the 'K Guard' instructional, if you want a good overview of his open guard system and an excellent level of details on the K guard. But if you want the level of detail that Lachlan is known for in all the transitions that the K Guard instructional presents, get the three volumes. You will not regret. It's indeed absolute gold. And Lachlan's instructionals are not repetitive. He keeps the pace. He replays narrated rolling. He replays the position in slow motion with some cool music. But my point is, this is not the type of instructional that you watch in 1.5x speed. The material is already well paced and rich, therefore playing it in 1.5x risks missing key details he is known for. IMHO Lachlan's instructionals are the best in the industry. The quality of the content alone is already excellent, but on top of that comes an excellent editing and production of the instructional.
Excellent System for RDLR and leg entanglements
great
Great
Absolute gold, like everything else Lachlan put out. Love his outside open guard style. I own the other two and this is just as good!
Im not even done first volume yet, but it is great already. Lachlan does a good job explaining the techniques easily and I love the offensive options with leg entanglements from bottom that lead to sweeps and great things. He also makes it look really easy. Really enjoyable so far, and can't wait to see what's on rest of set.
