Really helpful from hand fighting to different types of take downs. Makes my approach to standup in no gi much simpler
Great system as usual from Gordon
I really enjoyed this one, it's recommended to do Systematically Attacking the Scrimmage: Beginers Guide to Success before this one if you don't have any wrestling experience. While you don't necessarily have to watch them both, if you're someone without wrestling experience like me, both of these combined should give a grappler confidence to engage while standing.
Awesome
Beaucoup de contenue comme d’habitude,très bien expliqué! J’adore
Good coverage of techniques.
I am always looking for that edge when it comes to take downs. I want to understand the details while being able to string along concepts to connect different attacks together. Gordon does an amazing job of marrying concepts with instruction throughout the video so you really understand the why behind the what (I find most jiu jitsu instructionals miss the boat in this area). My confidence in my takedowns has grown tremendously by soaking in this instructional. Highly recommend.
Exhaustive in it's techniques but systematic enough to make it easy to implement. Instantly clarifies the standing game
I love how this instructional also flows with the Lower Body instructional. Tons of combos for all what if's
Very interesting approach from Gordon to takedown someone with upper body attacks, not big slam and tired takedown. Just off balance, dilemma, reaction from opponent we use to trap him and gain sweep, takedown, take front headlock or rear body lock. We have takedowns from several positions with collartie , overtie, under/overhook, double under/overhook, over under, 2 on 1, armdrag
Gordon should use guys his own size in rolling commentary at end. I’m sure his movements work against 120lb people.
For those of us that are older or less explosive, this is an excellent way to work in takedowns through proper hand fighting, head/body positioning, and footwork. Learn to wear down those younger, more explosive opponents.
academic, thumb up for that!
Guy is the goat
I liked the variety of positions/concepts. Especially the rear bodylock part.
I have seen a lot of people online being sceptical of the word 'scrimmage' as they think Gordon is trying to force this concept too much. Having bought two of the three scrimmage instructionals now, I think he's absolutely right. It's been known for a long time that the stand up aspect of BJJ is lacking. Gordon is filling that gap with a style of stand up that is tailored specifically for BJJ. As usual everything explained excellently and demonstrated just the right amount. These scrimmage instructionals are going to be the sole focus of study to improve my stand up game for the foreseeable future.
I git this at really good price. Well worth the buy. Have the lower and many others from Gordon .
I have no takedown experience but have been training JJ for 5 years now. Something that I’ve just avoided since I never get clear direction at my gym. This has helped me immensely. It goes over all the prerequisite knowledge to understand how to approach the standup game
I’ve enjoyed the content so far.
For someone like me who doesn’t have a background in any grappling sport, this really helps with getting those take downs (without ******* up ur neck or back). Very safe wrestling/judo. Can’t wait for scrimmage wrestling on the ground and submission wrestling
Great instructional, covers both attacks and ways to disengage from bad positions. Gordon, offers a great variety of attack which allows anyone to find atleast a couple they like. The only thing that sucks about this instructional is he doesn't really blend attacking the upper and lower body together. He says you can attack both the upper and lower body, but it would have been nice if he emphasized playing between the two a little more. I understand this instructional was there to emphasize the upper body attacks, but I have both the upper and lower body instructionals, and I wish he had blended the two.
Great details and simple game plans
I really need work on my takedowns. This is a great approach since it doesn’t make you keep diving at your opponents legs
Amazing . Super in depth great systems
This instructional is worth for everything penny Thanks for effective technique
