Clear and direct technique and concept explanations. Useful tactics from closed guard for control and transitioning into offensive cycles.
There is not so much to tell it's solid stuff and easy to understand
I highly advise e watch this
good defensive bjj
Great presentation of the fundamental principles of avoiding strikes!
Good
I don't think you'll be disappointed. Every section offered something great and useful for the average player; I enjoyed the logic based ideologies to maintain the upper hand at all times (against stronger faster opponents) whilst using minimal energy . Easy to understand and implement right away.
Bon dvd pour apprendre les bases du Mma
I initially didn't realize this instructional was only oriented to the pure defence from bottom position during ground and pound, I was actually looking for details for attacking with ground and pound and escape from bottom rather than just defence however is does have some pretty good tips for pure BJJ guys looking to make their BJJ more functional in real world situations where striking is a factor.
JV is an excellent teacher who explains every technique and concept thoroughly. Highly recommend!
Detailed and precise instruction based on basic principles. Javier describes the different ranges of attacks and possible ways to deal with them. Its a good foundational instructional tape and defending from ground and pound.
It's good information and will work if you are getting mugged by a homeless guy. However, it isn't up to the current mma level. Nothing on elbow defense, and a few moves specifically leave you open for elbows. Nothing on half guard or mount.
These techniques will keep you from getting punched. The lessons are clear and easy to follow, and Javi has tested them at the highest level.
In my opinion, this is an essential resource for any MMA or self-defense minded BJJ practitioner. Great systematic explanation of defensive ground techniques when strikes are involved.
As someone who primarily started BJJ from the sport side of things, I wanted to incorporate strikes into a guard system which I like very much: Closed guard/classic guard. This DVD provides some excellent details in niche overlooked areas of problems, such as scenarios where opponents have different altitudes of posture, or are trying to stall you out, while adding in strikes. To be 100% honest, I haven't finished it yet. As of right now I would have preferred to see the instructor demonstrate his techniques on someone who was larger than himself, to provide extra instances of challenge in the closed guard. Additionally, while he does provide good transition between zones of altitude/risk scenarios, I feel there is more to be desired. On other DVD's, a problem will be presented and addressed with often up to 4 or 5 different responses, depending on the minute changes in the opponents presentation of the problem. I would say that this DVD provides that level of breakdown, but not consistently across the whole video. While some scenarios are answered with 4 different logical responses, some are given one basic answer and forgotten about. Did I learn at least one or two great things from this DVD? Yes. For that it was worth it to me. Was it the most in depth approach to strikes in the guard? Probably not.
Javier’s systematic punch protection knowledge is peerless. Battle tested and concise.
Great video, very happy with purchase. Knowing how to defend from strikes from bottom position is a must. Sadly! Not many schools teach or practice these techniques. This video will add to your arsenal.
Simply the best in strike based jiu jitsu. It’s all in the details!!!
This instructional was great! Everyone should know this, whether you're just looking to stop punches on the ground for self defense, MMA, or combat jiujitsu. The instructional was clear and presented a logical system for stopping strikes, and has been battle tested against professional MMA fighters.
