The most in depth instructional on the subject out there
Transformed my game. While at the end of my white belt period, probably had the best guard retention in the gym (got promoted since).

Amazingly detailed and thorough instructional of modern guard retention. Hard to believe they managed to spread it out to over 8 volumes and there is still a second separate course on passing through the legs. Very highly recommended

Truly systematic (as best as guard retention can be as a topic), Giles and Tabak teach concepts and movesets which are then applied quite consistently across a number of situations. Best recommended for people with a few years of experience.

I have watched a bunch of videos on guard retention, and this is one of the best i have seen. His approach fits my style , and the teaching format with him showing a technique and then you get to see it during live sparring makes it easier to learn.

I would definitely say, this is the modern Jiu-jitsu of one of the best grapplers in the world. I bought almost all Lachlan instructional videos. With this instructional improved a lot my game in guard, became confident and relaxed guard player.

I’ve just finished watching volume one and the other night tried bringing in some of the concepts into my open guard. I am 72kg bluebelt and get a lot of pressure from pretty much everyone (above and below in belt) because they are stronger and heavier. This has made a difference to my game already in that I am using my strongest set of muscles to control the game and the other night had great success with it. granted I got smashed the next training session after that but seen that I can work so will keep at it. Thanks to the team for putting this together. It looks like this 40yr old might have a few more tricks to learn.....

I've been doing jiu jitsu for a year and a half. This sport caught me and I have studied a lot, but I can say that these videos have helped to improve my guard a lot. It is funny to see the face of purple belts with such difficulty to pass the guard to a white belt.

Probably the best DVD series I’ve ever seen. If I had to only choose one instructional, I’d choose this one. I’ve always loved Lachlan Giles’ teaching but this instructional with Ari is the best by far.

Engaging instruction and high quality content. I really enjoy how ari and lachlan discuss overarching concepts and follow up with in depth breakdowns of specific scenarios/tech and compliment this with reference to live roll footage. This is the golden standard for guard movements.
