very good concepts
Ryan did an excellent job really breaking down this guard and I get a little more everytime I watch it and as an mma guy, there's some very applicable things for when strikes are in play.

Another Masterpiece by Ryan Hall! Ryan is one of the greatest minds in Jiu-jitsu, and this collection has a great approach to best understanding the defensive guard. A must-have.

Typical Ryan Hall video. Lots of explanation and logic, awarkward analogies, and good production quality. There are only maybe two volumes I found useful, the rest seemed to be an explanation on why frames work. He mentioned it wouldnt be useful to go through a list of frames then spent two hours doing it. The bar is high for a Ryan Hall video and this was quantity over quality.
Unique and influential
It's a very unique approach to teaching guard, with a massive emphasis on more broad concepts and principles, rather than specific details. It's going to take some time for some of this to sink in, but I have definitely been influenced by Ryan Hall's perspectives.

This instructional is a game-changer. Ryan Hall explains the physics and fundamental body mechanics required to up your grappling game in an accessible, entertaining, and immediately APPLICABLE way. This is not about fancy "tricks" or a slew of complex moves. Hall illustrates effective techniques based around the core concepts he covers in this vid. I've never watched an instructional quite like this one––I can't recommend it more!

Brilliant and balanced masterpiece by Ryan Hall, providing not only key movement patterns but also a thorough conceptual framework focused on connection to the floor with an aligned structure. He provides numerous examples and shares some different thinking around how the guard should be actually be used (regardless of your preferred competition ruleset). I hope there's more Ryan Hall / BJJ Fanatics collaborations planned!

Ryan's approach is very different to most. He favours "standing up" when on his back. He explains everything in a lot of detail. I look forward to using these concepts in class.

Amazing instructional from Ryan!!! Best resource to truly understand WHY you're certain things and WHY they work (or perhaps force you to question whether what you're currently doing is actually helping you achieve your goals). Truly perspective broadening, and definitely changed my paradigm on how I approach the guard. Can't wait for his next one!

Best guard instructional I have purchased. Ryan has completely changed my perspective of the guard. The principles and concepts he teaches make you understand how to use your body in the most structurally sound and energy efficient ways possible. This is a must-have if you want to truly understand jiu jitsu. Love hearing Ryan's philosophies on martial arts as well.
