Great instructional by Gordon
Great instructional for guard retention.
Great content
Good
Good instruction; however, I was confused because of lack of experience in BJJ. I would recommend it for people with a few months of experience.
good
Helpful and worth the expensive price tag
Studying this instructional as well as the supine, seated & half guard instructional has made my guard a lot more trickier to pass
Fantastic instructional by the king. He covers most forms of guard retention and has great insight specifically on half guard retention. This really changed my game. Open guard retention is something difficult to learn since it is such a dynamic position but Gordan does a great job explaining the details.
For sure made my guard retention **** less
"They Shall Not Pass" is an comprehensive instructional series focusing on guard retention and defensive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques. superb stuff
Very detailed explanation
Gordon Ryan's instructional videos on guard retention are a treasure trove of detailed techniques and strategies, showcasing his mastery of no-gi jiu-jitsu. As one of the most renowned grapplers in the world, Ryan brings an unparalleled level of expertise to the table, making these videos invaluable for anyone looking to improve their guard game. The videos are packed with high-quality information, covering a wide range of guard retention techniques, including those for X guard, half guard, seated guard, and more. Ryan's approach is meticulous, focusing on both loose and tight guard passes, and he provides clear explanations of how to maintain control and prevent opponents from advancing. The level of detail is impressive, with Ryan highlighting subtle nuances that can make all the difference in a match. One of the strengths of these videos is their ability to cater to different skill levels. While beginners will find the foundational techniques invaluable, advanced practitioners will appreciate the depth and complexity of the strategies presented. However, the sheer volume of information can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially for those new to these techniques. This is not a drawback; rather, it means that the videos offer a wealth of knowledge that can be revisited and explored as one progresses in their training. A significant advantage of these instructional videos is their rewatch value. As you practice the techniques, you'll find that revisiting the videos allows you to pick up on details you might have missed initially. This is particularly useful for refining your skills and understanding the intricacies of guard retention. For instance, Ryan's emphasis on maintaining connections and controlling the opponent's movements can be practiced and then reinforced by revisiting specific sections of the video. In conclusion, Gordon Ryan's guard retention instructional videos are a must-have for anyone serious about improving their jiu-jitsu skills. While the depth of information can be daunting at times, it ensures that these videos will remain a valuable resource throughout your training journey.
Nice details
Completely changed the conceptual framework I use to approach retention. Love the Goal Setting component for each position!
Gordon gives the best instructionals
It was allot but i enjoyed it. the basic principle was fighting for inside positions To offense.
Really great video for troubleshooting your open guard
Amazing details
Great stuff, I also have the seated and supine guard instructionals and there is some overlap but it just reinforces the content vs making it redundant. Gordon gets more into concepts in this set than in a lot of his others which I quite liked as well.
great technical and tactical insights
Excellent content as always. I highly recommend this to all belt levels. It has leveled up my guard retention in a significant way.
It gives good details on framing and movements.
