Good concepts
Great resource on the concepts of control, which can be very difficult teach. Helpful for both beginners as well as advanced grapplers.
An opportunity to re-think how you control your opponent in a more effective and efficient way.
This instructional (GI) by Fabio Leopoldo teaches concepts he has learned during his BJJ journey and focuses on the dynamic placement/movement of his body in response to his opponent with the aim to maintain effective control. The concepts include utilizing your whole body, rather than an overreliance on your arms; dynamically utilising advantageous angles to the opponent; and how to use your hips in ways to connect and create more power and pressure. After an overview, the instructional teaches Fabio Leopoldo’s concepts applied to the closed guard (bottom), back (top), turtle (top), side control (top), knee on belly (top), and full mount (top). The approach in this instructional is to discuss and show how the concepts are applied to a particular position to maintain control and then Fabio teaches a number of attacking techniques. The attacking techniques are simple, effective and easy to recall e.g., collar choke, arm triangles, americanas, kimuras, armbars, etc. Additionally, several drills are included. The instructional is 1 hour and 56 minutes long. Fabio teaches and demonstrates clearly. As is the norm demonstrations are repeated several times from different angles. The video quality is good with the normal limitations of a fixed position for the camera. The sound recording is good, however there is the occasional siren or car noise in the background. I can recommend this instructional for GI players. For me Fabio’s concepts have been helpful. For example, a couple of tweaks to closed guard collar choke and entering an armbar have really improved my ability to reliably submit people from closed guard. Similarly, my chokes from back control have been improved. There is lots to think about and learn from this instructional. It is the sort of instructional you will likely watch more than once.
Response from BJJ FanaticsThanks so much for your review! :hugging:Concepts lead to technique
If you have a fundamental skill level this is perfect to utilize your skills via this concept(s). If ypu are a starter with this instructional you can learn the concepts that make the given and your own skills work. Highly recommend!

I loved the concepts! It brought to light some elements of specific techniques I have been overlooking.

Immovable
When I started learning how to use this concept as a blue belt, it was hard to feel at first. The more I worked at it, the more I noticed that my training partners couldn't move me no matter how much they struggled. It's almost like my base is fluid at times and the harder they fight, the easier it is to transition to side control/mount. And even if they are able to repel a position, how much energy they had to use is very apparent. Now everyone I train with hate being on their back against me. This concept has become an absolute staple in my jiujitsu.
Easy to Learn & Apply!
Total Body Concepts by Professor Fabio Leopoldo is the perfect combination of new knowledge and practical use. I was able to easily take with Professor Fabio presented in the video and apply it to my rolling. I also LOVED the drills he included in the video. I highly recommend it!
Exactly what I needed!
Well explained concepts that made big and immediate improvements for me on the mat. As a white belt, I can go weeks not feeling like I’ve been making any progress, so it is encouraging to see and feel a difference. Excited to keep training and focusing on this concept!
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Total Body Pressure Gives You Time
Using the concept from Total Body Control of “riding the ball”gave me time to get the submission I was looking for. I was able to move from side control to north south and then back to side control to get a paper cutter, the whole time staying “on top of the ball”. It gave me the pressure throughout to keep my opponent pinned. By the time I got the paper cutter he wanted it over after so much pressure as I was moving around. Great concepts to keep opponents pinned.
The secret to controlling your opponents.
These concepts not only have changed my game in Jiu Jitsu but have carried over to how I coach Jiu Jitsu and high school wrestling. Grappling with your full body is the only way to control your opponent as you move towards positions, points, submissions and pins. This is a Masterclass.
