• Old school closed guard

  This is an excellent instructional (GI) on the closed guard (bottom), covering effective old school attacks and sweeps. What sets it apart from other closed guard instructionals is the quality of Fabio Gurgel’s instruction. He teaches a series of techniques in logical order from the moment your opponent enters your closed guard, including how to respond immediately to compromise and control the opponent’s posture. He also teaches when you should open your closed guard. When teaching the techniques he teaches broadly around the technique and as you would expect provides useful insights. His instruction and demonstrations are clear. This is an easy instructional to watch and the techniques are not complex or difficult to learn and recall. There are no notable issues with sound or video quality (e.g., range, focus, or lighting). The runtime for the instructional is 1 hours and forty one minutes. If you are interested in improving your closed guard and you feel you have more to learn, then this would be a good instructional to add to your library.
