This instructional is just a must!
Fantastic leg lock approach
Lachlan Giles breaks everything down so well and at a very enjoyable pace so far I'm loving it!
I used to avoid heel hooks, I couldn’t even watch them being applied without wincing and in fact I didn’t even like them being brought up in conversation… the first time I watched the series I was slightly overwhelmed by the level of detail and Kia’s distractingly handsome appearance. Within a few weeks I started to catch people in heel hooks, and now foot attacks in generally have become my highest percentage submission. This series was literally like opening a portal to another dimension, I wholeheartedly recommend that you purchase the series. I used to fear heel hooks and now I feel like batman (Batman Begins not the one with Michael Keaton) I’ve become what I feared most.
Overall rating 9/10 Level of Difficulty; Advanced Quality of Content; 10/10 Clarity of Verbal Explanation; 9/10 Quality of Demonstration; 7/10 Logical sequencing; 9/10 Length (approx); 10 hours Number of techniques; 250 ish Alternatives; John Danaher Leglocks 9/10, Craig Jones Leglocks 8/10, Ryan Hall 5050 7/10 This DVD really is a huge undertaking. The breadth of scope and level of detail is remarkable. Content The first two discs cover leglock principles, finishing mechanics, common counters and how to deal with those counters. He then goes through the pros and cons of “standard” leglock positions to set the scene for his contention that his 5050 and Outside Sankaku positions are superior. Discs 3 and 4 go through 5050 and OS in detail and introduce us to Distal Control, which is where Lachlan secures a grip on the foot and then enters a leg entanglement. This stands in contrast to the traditional concept of securing a position and then attacking the foot, and was one of the stand-out features recognised as producing results for Lachlan at ADCC. Discs 5-7 cover entries to 5050, from a range of logically ordered positions, (Inside control, outside control and general inversions). This section introduces us to the other great innovation of a Lachlan’s game, namely the K Guard (also known as butterfly Ashi). K guard transitions directly into 5050, and can be an easy position to enter from a range of guard and scramble situations. It is a little known guard and ∴ not well defended. Interestingly the other person who uses it extensively is Mikey Musumeci in the Gi. He transitions from guard pulls to Leglocks, 5050 and Berimbolos. Disc 8 is narrated rolling footage which is also valuable, and having studied the set, analysis of Lachlan’s ADCC footage clearly shows him using this system exactly as laid out. Likes Huge amount of content, fairly logically ordered. Plenty of description of “what-if” scenarios, both in the instruction and narrated rolls. Lachlan is teaching his go-to material, as you can see in his matches. Lachlan frequently summarises and recaps and also teaches the moves to his Uke as he goes along. I really like this and actually preferred John Danaher’s first cut leglock DVD where he taught Bernardo Faria in the same way. Gripes The DVD doesn’t seem like many of the chapters were practiced before shooting. Resultantly Lachlan can get a bit distracted and shows many different options and variations within each move as he sees how his Uke is reacting. This can make it seem a bit hard to follow and rambling at times.
Technique on point. Great job by all involved!
Teaches the technique and then show you how to implement it
A great piece of instructions!
Give him de cash moneys
Well organized very good info.
Excellent material.
Just started working my way slowly through. Really getting a great understanding. Awesome job again Lachlan.
Well organized, good pace and great content. Lachlan is one of my favorite black belts who clear knows how to communicate clearly and succinctly.
The early emphasis on the biomechanics of the leg really set the stage for this series. He even shows his tome of a master thesis on the leg which adds a ton of credibility. I especially enjoy the coaching of his demonstration partners on the techniques. For me, watching him walk them through and correcting mistakes gives a better understanding. Highly recommend.
I have watched about 1/6 of it and I am already amazed at how much quality content there is... There is enough information here to build a curriculum having 3 -4 classes a week for two years.
I’m no longer scared of 50/50. User to avoid it like the plague, now I seek it out and finish.
Easy to follow great coaching from the best.
This helped me survive the last 30 seconds in 50/50 in my last superfight. That was just a start, I now find 50/50 increasingly becoming my pit-stop leg entanglement.
Technical and detailed. We thought thorough analysis
As a diligent leg locker, I've been interested in Lachlans leg lock game ever since I saw him running through a whole team at Kinektic with pretty much his unconventional leg locks alone. This instructional is exactly what I've been waiting for. Lachlan is an incredible teacher and it shows in the well organized structure of the instructional. The Leg Lock Anthology introduces a couple of new positions and tweaks the traditional ones. Especially the entries Lachlan shows, offer a new pathway to enter the legs and will be a great asset to my game. Definitely became a big fan, not just for his success on the mats, but also for his teaching skills.
Really detailed instructional. Goes over everything from breaking mechanics 101 in a comprehensive way, to the most advanced small details that make a big difference in setting up, dealing with all your opponents counters, transitions and more. In a word: Comprehensive. Also the teaching style is a big plus. He really breaks every step down in a logical way thats easy to follow. 10/10 no doubt!
