Must have training to complete your Mount game!
This is a thorough and enjoyable course. If you want to learn Mount, I can't imagine a more complete course on the topic.
I spend a ton of time working through instructionals and this has got to be the Best one I've seen on the topic of mount.
Great instruction
Thornton focuses on fundamental concepts that lead to mount mastery--posture, position, pressure, and more--stripped-down, no-nonsense, core essentials. He's one of the best instructors out there. Highly recommended!
The course covers the lower mount in lots of details, mainly to keep you on top and be heavy! I have not seen those techniques on other courses!
It's as good as it gets - up there with Akins and Whittier's instructions.
Matt is an amazing instructor! The techniques and concepts taught throughout this instructional were easily applicable in training after only watching the first few lessons. I recommend this for those that aren’t too knowledgeable on what to do once they achieve the mount.
Love this! Glad that it's part of my library!
staying on top for the arm triangle
Matt Thornton is literally one of the best teachers out there. My mount game has risen so so much. I'm a nightmare now when I get mount position!
Thornton goes straight to the heart of fundamental jiu jitsu. He shows how simple body connection and weight distribution can maintain your mount and turn it into a checkmate position. He also shows very simple, low risk attacks from the mount. This is nothing fancy, just good, efficient and effective jiu jitsu. White belt jiu jitsu, which is the best kind.
Incredible technical details. Has made a huge difference in my success in this position.
Matt does an excellent job of breaking down simple concepts. This has definitely helped my top game.
great
This took my mount to a whole new level. Really great insights.
Great mount instructional. The lesson style of teaching about mount make it easy to implement and learn the tips.
M. T and his coaches did a great job by outlining the key points of the low mount position in terms of maintaining and regaining the position and progress to sumbissions. The submissions are the americana lock, the armbar when your opponent pushes against your chest which is of course very rare in a jiu jitsu context and the head and arm choke. The details on the america and the head and arm choke are on the point and very useful. The lession about the back take is very self defense based. So to summarize: This instructional is great about maintaining and regaining the mount!! In context of the given submissions and the back take lesson it should be more precise and detailed. Recommendation if the focus is on maintaining and regaining the mount
Lots of good fundamental techniques and concepts for maintaining the mount and setting up submissions.
It really helped me with the foundation of mounted position!
Matt Thornton continues his mastery of the fundamentals with this course. This course covers the concepts while in "low" mount (as Matt describes low, middle, and high). Mount is my A game pinning position and am Very happy with the info I added to my arsenal with this instructional.
Great video
Matt Thornton is a master at distilling the essentials necessary to get to the next level, wherever a student happens to be on the journey. This video series covers not what is most basic, but what is most important for the mount.
Professor Thornton sprinkles more BJJ Knowledge in his side comments than most instruction videos do in their entire content. Provides a Prang Color Wheel for Mount BJJ. Teaches you the primary colors that create all the colors. No rainbow and unicorn perfect situational techniques! Solid Fundamentals that will improve your Mount.
I had actually never heard of Matt before giving this video a shot. I'm really glad I did. He lays out a very structured approach to learn every aspect of the mount position.
