My close guard is on a transparent belt level. Hope I move forward to white belt level. Very well explanation
Professor Mica Galvao unites a great athletic/competition skillset with an outstanding teaching skillset. -The techniques he is showing are sold well known techniques in jiu jitsu with upraded with a lot of key steps to secure positions and kep yourself safe during transitions all the time. He offers an two on one gameplan as well as a overhook gameplan. Furthermore he offers a game around flower sweep and the kimura trap and hip bump sweep and a game when your opponent is about to get an upright posture on bottom. At last he shows his game when your opponent is about to stand up or already managed to stand up. At the end of each segment he is summarizing all the key details to get the techniques done. This is one of my favourite ccloses guard instructionals!! Highly recommend!!
good!
Great details!
Covers lots of closed guard submissions and sweeps in a very organized progression. Picked it up as a blue belt and helped my closed guard improve as I now had options for almost any closed guard position and to break down opponents defense.
Great content and instructions
Alot of Good Material!!
Excellent
This is a technique based instructional for the closed guard bottom taught in the Gi. Techniques taught include going to the closed guard from standing; a series of submission and sweeping techniques from the cross grip/two-on-one; a series of submission and sweeping techniques after gaining the underhook and gripping the opponent’s lapel; the flower and hip bump sweeps including using these sweeps as an entry for other techniques; a series of wristlocks; and a series of sweeps for situations where the opponent stands in your guard. The content of this instructional is logically ordered. The instructional has a total runtime of 3 hours and 10 minutes. Mica Galvao effectively explains each technique, highlights the important details that make a technique work (e.g., grip breaks when doing the techniques) and includes a summary of the technique at the end of each chapter. The techniques are clearly demonstrated multiple times and Mica Galvao changes the camera view by moving generally to three different angles for the repetitions. Repetitions of demonstrations are consistent with each other. The video has been filmed with a single camera. In terms of video quality, the first thing that you will notice is that the sound quality is below average, with some obvious distortion when Mica Galvao is speaking and occasionally you can hear traffic noises. I assume that the problem is that Mica Galvao is too far from the microphone. This issue is apparent in the preview chapter of the product webpage. Lighting and focus are good, but the range could be better (i.e., the camera should be focused on the instructor and the uke with less background visible). Without the correct range it is more difficult to see the details of the technique, however at least the instructor and uke are wearing different coloured Gis. In summary, this is a good instructional teaching a series of useful and effective closed guard techniques. However, the content could have been further improved with the inclusion of material on how to maintain the closed guard. In my opinion Mica Galvao’s teaching was good, however it is a pity the quality of the sound recording wasn’t better, as for me at times this was a distraction. The next section of the review gives an overview of the content of this instructional, if this information interests you. Volume 1 includes the following techniques: gaining the closed guard through either a guard pull (x 2 techniques) and how to jump to closed guard; and from the cross grip/two-on-one several techniques including a back take, a cutting armbar, standard armbar, sweep, opposite side back take to the previous back take technique and a shoulder lock armbar to be used in situations where the opponent is holding their arm tightly against their body. Volume 2 includes the following techniques: after gaining the underhook and gripping the opponent’s lapel a simple choke, armbar, omaplata, pendulum sweep and if the opponent attempts to escape their arm from the underhook control, the Mir lock (a shoulder lock variant). Volume 3 includes the following techniques: two versions of the flower sweep; an armbar off a failed flower sweep; using a flower sweep as an entry to attack with a triangle choke; a standard kimura; a hip bump sweep, if the opponent defends an attempted kimura; a triangle choke if the opponent defends a hip bump sweep; a wristlock if the opponent places a hand in your armpit; a wristlock if the opponent is attempting to control one of your arms; and a wristlock if the opponent holds your belt. Volume 4 includes the following techniques for situations where the opponent stands up in your guard: the classic muscle sweep; the omaplata sweep, as a response to the muscle sweep being defended; the roll back version of the omaplata sweep to deal with a posturing opponent; a reverse muscle sweep for the situation where the opponent steps back to avoid the muscle sweep; the balloon sweep to move directly to the mount; the mermaid sweep where you close your guard around the opponent’s legs at knee height to sweep them to the side while maintaining control of both sleeves; a version of the mermaid sweep where you have control of only one of the opponent’s sleeves; and the double ankle control version of the mermaid sweep for situations where you don’t have grips on the opponent’s sleeves.

Mica Galvao's take on a fundamental classic updates an essential guard system that is overlooked nowadays in favor for the athletic and flashy moveset . This is a must for every jiujitsu practioner since it updates the fundamentals of classic that has time and time again provided to be transcendent amongst every spectrum of athletes . You'll be able to learn and apply this throughout one's jiujitsu journey
Great video from one of the best upcoming grapplers in the world
Love it.
We can leard chapion’s skill in detail
I bought it to start practicing Closed guard in earnest. I purchased the Mica series for the first time, but the explanations are easy to understand, and I feel that it is the best for studying from now on. There are a lot of simple and effective techniques, and I learned a lot.
At first I was a bit disappointed, because I was used to Deblass, Danaher or Travis Stevens' style of video teaching. But for the price, when you really give it a look you realize 2 things. First, this kid is a superstar natural. Two, he is a good communicator in his own right. Oh, getting back to the closed guard is great and to see how the new gen is doing it is helpful.
