One of my favorite videos! I have learned a lot from this one. Very different from other videos by other teachers.
Whether if you practice jiu jitau for self defense or as a sport or also to compete you will get a huge turnover rate of this instructional. The definitions of the terms technique, practice and training or the stages from practice to mastery are so sensible itself that they alone have the potential to elevate your jiu jitsu. Combined with all the given examples and the defensive and ofensive pisitioning as well as the mindset and theory of how to train your emotional control you get a well rounded and long-term gameplan for constant improvement!! One of the best concepts out there!!
Excellent instructional with less spoken about strategies.
Roy Harris is a unique mind in BJJ. Here he presents a treasure trove of methods that turn can knowledge into useable, workable skills. Beyond the drilling systems, I find value in the way Mr. Harris articulates things as well. He's definitely a deep thinker. The outline(s) presented here can be used toward mastering any information and sequences you are currently trying to master.
Harris has good stuff here. Will take some time to digest the message, but will prove helpful.
His method helps. You can apply it to learning in class or on video. You will need to pay attention to get a good understanding of the f.b.i.a.o. but once you understand you can take learning to a whole new level. -Respect
Excellent info on how to get more out an instructional and be a better learner. I love the thorough explanations and got more out of it the second time watching. The techniques shown, while not the emphasis of this instructional, are still great.
Since I’m in my 40’s, I’m looking for every possible help I can in order to train more efficiently. This course has really helped me to take a step back, and really consider how I train and how I can be a better learner as well as a helpful training partner to the other students at my academy. This is definitely a course I will refer back to a lot as I progress in my Jiu-Jitsu journey.
Informative and we’ll done! Thank you BJJ Fanatics!
Good information, easily understandable.
Disclaimer: I have been a student of Roy Harris since 1993 and am proud to have earned a black belt in BJJ under him. Roy Harris is one of the best instructors (of not just BJJ but any of the many skills that he possesses) out there. He is a student of the game and has learned and studied and devoted much thought to the workings behind the system. Additionally he is a patient, thorough, and kind instructor. Now living in another state I don’t get to drink from the fountain as often as I would like. To make up the gap I absorb his videos. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that he created a new video on Rapid Skill Development and I anxiously purchased it at my first opportunity! I have now completed my first viewing of it and wanted to offer a review for anyone considering purchasing the video. If you are looking for a video with dozens of flashy techniques to impress your friends, you may be disappointed in this video. This video is not about techniques but is an opportunity to look behind the curtain and see how to train to improve your skills. Roy does teach some techniques in the video, but they are presented as a vehicle to teach the methods behind learning BJJ rather than a primer on how to do a technique. With this video a student either a beginner, intermediate, or advanced can incorporate a “road map” to excellence in BJJ, whether you are training at a Harris Affiliate or any other school. The methods taught in the video are transferrable. I feel very fortunate to have started my BJJ journey under the watchful eye of Roy Harris in a dance studio in Pacific Beach. And I now count myself as fortunate to have purchased this video and completed my first of many viewings of this video (as it will take many viewings to truly absorb the material) to improve my own BJJ game as well as the deeper understanding that I will now be able to pass on to my students.
Roy Harris delivers a fantastic instructional highlighting an effective method to get better at BJJ. Rather than show a ton of techniques Prof.Harris provides a structure to work from in order to get better, while showing techniques as examples. Hes also one of the only instructors I know that highlights the bit before the escape, defensive positioning, which has been effective for me already. This instructional is well worth getting.
This will take re-watching over and over again to fully digest. But it's a great method to learn any technique and I highly recommend it.
Coach Harris demonstrates brilliant analysis and information about BJJ and how to use fundamentals in advanced strategies. Absolutely brilliant 👏
Roy Harris is one of the most underrated teachers in BJJ and his knowledge is really really deep. In this series he is just giving a glimpse of his BJJ and he will give you some great ideas and food for thought. If you are interested in a smart way of training this series will help you a lot
Excellent course for all skill levels! With life changes I stepped away from BJJ for several years and recently getting back to it. Having known Professor Harris thru his JKD/Kali and BJJ for nearly 20 years and knowing that he brings the highest quality in instruction; this course was nothing short. If you are seeking a course to help you develop your skill rather than focusing on the newest world title technique... then this is the course for you. It is explained very clearly and lays the foundations on how to truly develop our abilities rather than just adding more techniques. In this regard the course VERY UNIQUE and a great course to revisit several times. Thank you Professor Harris for taking the time to make the course available, and to teach us how to be students!
This is an amazing training tool. Everyone shows techniques but this video shows how to train, to be better, in a shorter time. This is a must for coaches and students.
I’ve been a fan of Roy’s teaching style for many years and was excited that he released a program on BJJ fanatics. 3 volumes and plenty of easy to digest info, Roy also demonstrates easy to apply fundamentals that even myself used in training right after watching the instructional. Also, after purchasing, you receive a pdf file that compliments the instructional. This is great info for all belts from beginners to the most seasoned black belts.
I’m very impressed with this instructional. It teaches how to learn, which is a skill that came be applied to every class you go to, every seminar, and every instructional you watch. Focusing on the learning process and organization will also assist me as an instructor.
Professor Harris is an expert in training jiu jitsu instructors and developing training methodology. If you want to be efficient and effective, I recommend this video. Roy Harris has extensive experience as an instructor and knows how to identify the needs from a policeman, bjj/mma competitor or just an occasional martial arts student.
This instructional is all about attention to detail, learning to train/drill, and improving your skills as quickly as possible. I always tell lower belts that if they've already put in the effort of showing up to bjj class, why not maximize every single minute of that class with attention to detail and execution of their target techniques? This instructional helps people learn the mindset of improving faster, and making use of every minute of training.
Im beyond impressed with the content of this program, I just played the videos throu to see what was the hype about, never heard of these concepts before, especially "Training Methods". I was considering buying lots of programs to learn a bunch of techniques, but I think I will just stick to what this program has to offer to improve what I already know. Highly recommended
I’ve been using Mr harris system for over a year now since i was exposed to his previous apps, and i have to say that, i went from passing the guard from white, blue and purple belts, to now some higher belts avoid rolling with me because i'm using Roy Harris system. If you’re serious about pursuing a very efficient leverage based jiujitsu, then you won’t be disappointed if you grab this program, people will be asking you how did you get better so fast!! lol Give this a try
Knowledge and profound understanding of the art, this is Gold for all levels
