Concept that keeps me in control
The concept of having a two on one with the legs (and controlling the knee line with that) is the great breakthrough for me on this instructional. The instructions are very clear. I liked the structure for the segments, starting with the tools and then going on and showing them in the moves. The submissions volume is less detailed than the other volumes, it shows you the submissions you can do from half guard, but not the exact finishing mechanics. It does however show you options that you might not have thought of, and how they are "tools" for the rest of the techniques on this instructional (by creating reactions).

Professor Magid Hage gives a great overview of the main types of half guards. What is special aboit that is that he does this also in relation of the upper body position of the bottom player. He shows how to utilize your frames and hooks to take create or secure space depending wheter you want to sweep or submit. It is an excellent break down of utilizing hooks and frames! Highly recommend!!

This is the first half guard instructional that has actually strung together how various half guard positions flow together rather than just teaching individual moves. Real rolls are so fluid and Magid teaches with that understanding, giving you tools rather than moves. My new favorite half guard instructional, going to watch this one on repeat.

Another great instructional from Magid Hage. I like his approach to half guard. I have some a couple of his other instructionals and they are easy to follow and implement into your game, including high percentage recovery tactics and grip fighting strategies.
