Closed guard instructional from Bernardo that clearly lays out submissions and sweeps — a definite requirement for fans of closed guard.
very insightful!
Lots of easy to understand and to implement techniques for closed guard!
Excellent instructional, great for a beginner learning the basics
Overall, I think this is a good instructional. I won't go through the list of things you will get to learn from Bernardo, as you can find them listed on the page itself. What I like about this instructional: - Bernardo explains it very simply in a way that I think most people would be able to understand. This is key as I think not all experts are good teachers and Bernardo Faria is a good teacher. - The list of techniques shared will make your Closed Guard game dangerous to your opponent. However, the techniques are not just taught in isolation. I like that there are links between the techniques and Bernardo explains "what happens when this fail; how do you transition to another sweep or submission if this doesn't work" etc. - Bernardo goes over the little details to make sure viewers know how to do it right. For example, in Straight Overhook Choke, he talks about how instead of just pressing the forearm into our opponents' neck, the detail is to move the elbow closer to our opponents' chest (if I remember it correctly). I appreciate details like these as I believe little nuances like these make all the difference. What I think can be improved: - The camera angles can definitely be improved. While I appreciate that Bernardo tries and move around so that the camera can capture what is going on "on the other side" of things, I still think there are nuances not completely captured properly which is a pity. - No subtitles when I view on demand. Would really appreciate it as I sometimes view the video while accompanying my daughter to sleep and it can be hard to follow properly as I can't really turn the volume up. Finally, while he talked about how to counter some of the attempts to open up closed guard, I would appreciate it more if he goes into slightly more details on these as well as teaching more counters. I like those as it was precisely what my partners have been doing to me, so now I can think about how to implement his teaching to counter. However, this may not be a fair comment as it may not have been Bernardo's intention to address these in this instructional. So, this is purely my own thoughts. Overall, I would recommend this instructional to anyone who is looking to make their Closed Guard more dangerous.
Great content to help expedite the learning curve of a beginner like me. Start with the guard, I figured
Great detailed video. Very thorough techniques and explanations.
This is great, I love the little hidden details and explanations from Bernardo and his youthful enthusiasm brings so much engaging energy. It's awesome. Hope to take a class with him one day after Covid!
Game changer
All of Professor Bernardo's videos have been great! Having a great closed guard is fundamental to great defense and key to having attacks off your back, such as knowing how to transition from sweep to sweep if one is unsuccessful. Sweeps and submissions are all in this video... an excellent choice for your inventory.
Awesome!!
Guys its a huge honour for me to be here reviewing this DVD. Another amazing instructional with techniques that really work and are broken down so any level can use them! Amazing! Thank you again Professor Bernardo!

As a 50 year grappler, I’m always looking for more efficient ways to execute the fundamentals. I always find something in Bernardo’s game that adds value.
Thank you Bernardo Faria for offering up a way to train at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is appreciated more than you’ know.
Professor Faria emphasizes the small details such as grips and body position in this series. This is an awesome buy! Highly recommended. I can’t wait to get back on the mats.
Absolutely loved it !
Really enjoying this series. My son and I are using this series as instruction during this crazy COVID-19 quarantine.
