Quentin takes a slow and patient approach to introducing the concept of knee bars and toe holds in the gi. Whilst these are not IBJJF legal at my current belt (blue), I was seeking this information precisely for the reasons he highlights at the start of the video. Not learning and practicing these subs prior to brown belt will make the transition once you get there pretty tough. The chapter on finishing mechanics was particularly useful. Some of the setups are from fairly unusual positions, but there were enough from more traditional situations to allow me to work these into my game right away. Also, Justin deserves a shout out for putting a brave face on what looked to be some seriously uncomfortable positions.
I like the set ups!
I must say that this and Leahys ankle video together really made me understand leg lockin finishing so much more. Some of the details i didn't see before. Its precise - to the point and good examples that you can use to develop your own transition ideas . After seeing - i really saw clearly why it didn't it work efficiently before and i adjusted my training with the tips and points made in the video. i have much more control now over the sparring - partners foot/ leg and less effort to make the submission work. Step by step - just follow the video - train as showed - and you will improve for sure. Thanks a lot for good work and sharing the knowledge and experience.
