Concise and to the point.
Very rich
A lot of techniques, not as detailed as some other tutorials, but giving an excellent overview of all the possibilities arising from the kimura grip.
Great Kimura System That Really Works
This is a really solid kimura instructional. David Avellan explains everything in a clear and simple way, so it’s easy to follow and use in real training. I like that it’s not just random techniques – it feels like a real system. He shows how to control first, then how to finish, and what to do when your opponent defends. The small details on grips and body position made a big difference for me. As a white belt, this helped me a lot to build confidence and start developing kimura as my main attack. I’ve already been able to try parts of it during rolling, and it works. If you want a practical kimura game you can grow with, I definitely recommend this course.
The most op move in the game
Kimuras are everywhere. Master this grip for control, finishes and set ups to other positions. This is the most versatile movement in the sport. Win this and win the match. This dvd provides excellent structure on this grip.

Good Entry point for starting your kimura game
The instructional serves as a good starter pack for playing with the Kimuta both as a submission or as a control with getting to caught up in the more advanced theory or details. David definitely has his own take on the kimura and there a lot of little things that anyone can add to there regardless of whether they're just starting with the kimura or have been using it for a while. It's a great set up for the rest of his kimura instructional series.

David Avellan starts off with the most important part of his teaching in the first 5 to 10 minutes. He teaches his 9 part kimura attack. If you do everthing correctly, it takes very minimal effort to break the arm and you don't even have to step over the head to attack from side control (as so many other instructors teach). It's a fresh take on the kimura and I really enjoyed watching this series.

D. A. created an amazing kimura series. Based on a 9 point kimura which reffers to the most imortant/efficient finishing mechanics this series covers kimura from side control + step over kimura as well as kimura from top half and even from mount. Also included are kimura from closed guard and half guard bottom and combinations of kimura based sweeps and submissions. Escapes/defense are shown from inside closed guard, from top side mount and bottom side mount and when get attacked from top half. Highly recommend!!!

David is by far the best Kimura instructor out there. I’ve been following his kimura trap system for years. It’s incredibly effective. He’s a genuinely nice guy too. Study his DVDs, and then attend one of his seminars (bjjretreat.com), and your game will forever change for the better. Link the kimura to one of your other favorite moves, and multiply your submissions. Kimura links really well with wrestling, turtle, leg locks, and more. Good (kimura) hunting!
