I was looking for a way to make half guard a strength in my game and over the past few years Lachlan Giles has become one of my favorite grapplers to watch. Even before 2019 ADCC, he was often matched up against opponents who were much larger and stronger and he just wins. Even though we all know strength does matter, if a small guy regularly succeeds against larger guys, that says his game is very effective, and since all we have right now is time, I have made this my #1 priority. I have several of Lachlan’s instructionals and I can say that each of them is easy to follow and learn from. He’s very detailed and he gives you a complete system, starting with primary attacks from the position and then how to respond to common counters and troubleshoot specific issue that come up. You can study it and drill it all the way through, or you can look up solutions to problems as they come up. This is a fantastic instructional that merges really well with the leg lock games in modern jiu jitsu. I will definitely be recommending this to anyone struggling with half guard.
Great detail and easy to understand each of the positions that are being taught
The most detailed half guard instructional I've found to date.
This is an amazing set. Great explanation of concepts, details and technique. A must buy for everyone!!!
the importance of half guard.. thank you Bernardo for this platform and all your great videos, thank you Lachlan for this and your youtube tutorials.
Great instruction and easy to follow.
Amazing detail
The teaching with examples is of the highest standard and makes it easy to understand. The only reason I didnt give it 5* was because I felt that the DVD's could be arranged in a different order to make a flow of learning easier. To be fair it's all there and I just had to skip DVD 3 until i got some of the other moves down. Might just be me though. Despite me being picky i would really recomed this buy.
Amazing
I play half guard regularly and this DVD has certainly improved my game. Lachlan Giles presents effective techniques in an easy to learn/follow manner
Amazing detail
Worth the money
I've had many higher belts say that my half guard feels tight and dangerous. My sweeps and back takes have improved tremendously from half guard with this instructional and I haven't even studied the whole DVD yet.
This is the best half guard collection. Most are just collections of moves, Giles gives a more complete breakdown of not just the moves but his preferences of positions, entries and when to try. It is also invaluable to see his live footage. Can’t say enough, the BEST half guard instructional.
This the an excellent video compilation and has really helped me in my journey. Lachlan's instructions are extremely detailed with tons of examples and scenarios. This will take some time getting through but this course is tremendous value for money. Also I really like Lachlan's style of teaching; relaxed and fun!

This is my go to resource for half guard.
This is probably my favorite BJJ training video. I’m working on developing a good half guard game. Lachlan Giles is straight to the point and doesn’t repeat himself often which makes it easy to go direct to what you are looking for. Lots of detail and tons of content. I can see myself returning to this video over and over in my BJJ career.
Lachlan ability to teach and explain details and moves is just beyond incredible. This instructional covers literally every single position possible and the best thing is how deep in the concepts/details of positions he goes, rather than just show a move to copy without knowing why. This dvd not only completely transormed my half guard game but made also understand same principles that you can apply on other guards/moves. Honestly amazing from start to finish.
This instructional is just amazing, very in-depth but also easy to follow.
Lots of great material here with this BJJ Fanatics instructional video series by Lachlan Giles. Lachlan not only shows viewers the technique using drills he also narrates over pre-recorded footage of him using the technique on a live training partner. Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I have also one of John Danaher's BJJ Fanatics video series and John just does a better job of explaining things in comparison to Lachlan. This is not a knock on this video series definitely suggest adding to your collection if you're wanting to enhance your BJJ NoGi Half Guard game .
Great instructional
As a developing blue belt I have really taken a liking into half guard as it seems to finally stall some of my training partners from passing me without blinking. Now I can use Lachlan’s methodology to start transitioning from defense to offense and he covers it here in great detail. It’ll take me a while to digest all of what Lachlan has to offer in this video set!
Absolute class, working the details piece by piece as instructed by lachlan, and I can already see improvements, there's enough material to keep me going for a long time here. Extremely happy with this purchase.
Lachlan's teaching is both concise and deep, strategic and technical, he explains the why behind the moves, along with options and always considers the likely reactions of the opponent. It's always a pleasure to learn the distilled knowledge of some great practioners and he's up there competing with the best.
