Train Safe: Reducing The Risk of Injury Accidents In The Jiu Jitsu Training Room
Thank you, Professor Danaher, for a great talk.
Great video
As a coach, i've found this course really usefull
Gyms should play this
All gyms should show this in their intro classes lol.
This is brilliant
Thank you. Everyone should get this and watch it.
A must-watch for all
I think all instructors and gym owners should carefully study this video, because it not only details specific safety guidelines but also the ideal training and gym culture which promotes safety. I, for example, used to be a big proponent of tani otoshi from every angle, arguing that proper technique was sufficient to ensure safety. This video managed to convince me otherwise, and even though I think it can be good to learn such techniques for completeness, safety should be the number one concern when teaching such techniques to students.
So helpful
Such a helpful video series. I use it all the time when I supervise open mats.
Great Advices
To be good at BJJ, you need to train, and to be able to train, you need to stay injury-free. Especially if you're getting older and need to take extra care of your body, this video series offers excellent advice. Once again, JD exceeds expectations, coming from the best of the best.
Extremely Helpful to Avoid Injuries
Brilliant as usual
good if you are out with a injury
this is esspecially good for people who are injured and need to take a break from the mats

In this instructional John shares his insights on how you can train jiu jitsu safely and lowering the risk of injury. The level of detail that John shares is always excellent even in this kind of instructional. Add this to his other series and you can be sure to have a well rounded and long lasting jiu jitsu carreer whether you are a serious competitor or a hobbyist.

Great video about strategies to avoid severe injuries during training
Great video about strategies to avoid severe injuries during training. This resource identifies severe high risk techniques that can frequently cause injury, especially when jumping or throwing body weight uncontrollably. Always good to keep safety a number one priority so that you and your training partner don't get hurt. Highly recommended for all.
