For someone not coming from a wrestling background, this series is outstanding for learning how to control your opponent and get them to the mat in full control. Although this series does not go into the positions and submissions you would use in BJJ, once you have control of them you can easily see where your BJJ positions and submissions can be applied. Well done and detailed video series from a wrestlers viewpoint that will up your game. Thank you!
This is a good DVD. I'm a blue belt, and most of the techniques in here I had never seen before. Even though Hudson says its "wrestling fundamentals", it has a lot of knowledge that most blue, and purple belts don't know. In particular, parts 3 and 4 are exceptional. In Part 3, he pretty much shows a complete single leg takedown system with lots of set ups, drills and takedowns. Its actually enough to base an entire wrestling game off of. Part 4 shows the defense for the single leg as well. I'd love a DVD that showed a similar breakdown of entries and options for the double leg. Great DVD that is worth the money.
Super interesting and efective techniques, very well explained, couldn't be happier.
I've only watched DVD 1 and the wrestling fundamentals are solid. I wish there were more transitions into submissions though. I'm a wrestler getting into BJJ and wanted this to be a bootstrap from Wrestling to BJJ. I'd love a DVD from Hudson which was simple a BJJ for Wrestlers. I'd pay good money for that because it would help me NOT have to reverse engineer my skill set by myself.
I found Hudson’s instructionals super easy to follow along and have been able apply some of the techniques in training
Great price and value!
