Great instructional with escapes you won't see mainstream
This instructional was a quantum leap for me. Improved ways to get out of submissions improved my whole game!
Great video with in depth details on escapes from some of the most common subs we all get caught in. Also, watching Garry Tonon simply flow through submission escapes is worth the price of admission in itself. Awesome VIDEO!
Really good escaping system from defending sequence to the attacking sequence. Garry is the Best :call_me_hand:
Goes through a bunch of useful submission escapes. The high elbow guillotine escape is priceless and got me out of dumb situations sooooo many times. Very easy for me to remember under hard rolling conditions. All seem biomechanically sound and energy efficient. This is a must-buy for anyone looking to have solid submission escapes
Tonon teaches very impotant bascis through cool bjj styles
garry teaches very important basics for bjj plus his grappling style
So much sweet escape content
Great in depth instructional!
This instructional is an embarrassment of riches. It's hard not to gush over how good this is. Garry is a master of escapes and he's just as god at teaching them. You also can deduce excellent offensive strategies from what is engineered to be a defensive jiujitsu instructional. One could become a blackbelt from studying and implementing the knowledge and techniques from these videos alone. This is the best and most comprehensive instructional I've ever watched. There's a lot of content though, so study in chunks, take notes, and watch it again and again.
Garry Tonon has truly helped me find my inner BJJ Houdini. After listening to Danaher say " You must learn to escape bad positions!' followed by "Garry takes that idea a little too far" I can honestly say that working these escapes and attempting to absorb some of the basic concepts involved, I have achieved one undeniable result: The despair is gone from my Jiujitsu. I no longer view every bad position or seemingly unsurmountable obstacle as a reason for a bad day on the mats. It is instead a problem that has potential solutions, counters, and most importantly it has helped me find a FUN new angle to approach my rolls. How far are you willing to go before you try to break free as opposed to our usual stiff methods of prevention? Are you willing to go the edge of the tap precipice and try your luck at a last second escape? While all the movements shown are fairly simple, the biggest lesson I took from this video was that if you get tapped in practice, SO WHAT. The only way to work these excellent evasions is to drop your ego at the door.
As a white belt, you will get attacked a lot by upper belts. There are tons of opportunities to implement concepts of this video which helped me a lot
This tutorial has helped me immensely in escaping and defending submissions when sparring with higher belts. Watching this tutorial series also gives a very good conceptual understanding on what to look for when trying to escape!
This will help you formulate a plan for escaping any bad position. Gary is an excellent instructor, and this video is a much-needed addition to anyone's library
Gary goes over the concepts important for becoming an escape artist. This will help me go beyond techniques and think about the big picture. I also like his selection of submissions to escape from. I recommend this to everyone
At the risk of sounding like a used car salesman, this is the kind of instructional that has something for pretty much everyone. Defense, specifically submission defense is a necessary skill we have to pursue to be any good. But what sets this one apart is the level of detail in the moves themselves as well as the concepts/principles that gives the ”why” behind behind the techniques. Garry also gives us the idea of counter attacks from out of escapes which is a skillset that’s pretty undertrained for a lot of folks. You’ll come out of this with a set of new “go to” escapes for sure.
Boost my confidence to attack without fear of getting submitted.
This instructional is great for learning how to systimatically dismantle your opponents submissions
I have all of Gary's instructionals, haven't been let yet down yet. Great detail and clear instruction
Well i’m a white belt and was able to escape an almost fully locked in triangle from a brown belt thanks to Gary Tonon so i think these techniques are definitely the real deal!
Clear, Succinct, Effective.
I love learning through defence as it feels like you get a better handle on factors which are key to a situation. This instructional just hits that point home.
Garry is a great teacher and a clever guy. He put everything together
Another excellent instructional from Mr. Tonon. Excellent details on escaping... from every position.
white belt no stripe, picking up great tips for escaping common subs. even the way it's explained in principles of leverage makes applying escapes to different styles of the same submission possible
