Great old guy strategies to slow the game down and dominate positions
Just returned to training and my training partners are typically 10-20 years younger also much fitter and faster. Lots of details to help the older grappler including warmups. Highly recommended.
Having recently returned to training I was nervous. Most of my partners are anywhere from 10-20 years younger and much fitter. Appreciated the tips and warm ups.
Great resource, breaking BJJ to understandable and useful skills that I can use! I am not getting any younger but I M definitely getting a lot better with these instructionals!
Great content, very well explained by Tom DeBlass. As usual, fonctionnal, simple and direct. The principles are easy to understand and apply. It helps a lot to have a better mindset, a very good gameplan and mostly enjoy bjj in a safe and secure way for years and years to come. Thank you Tom DeBlass !
Effective and helpful instructions Tom Deblass' instructions are always insightful and amazing! I cannot wait his next instruction!
At 56 this video is a great find. Do the flashy stuff as long can but keep the old man methods as your base. This is what a lot of should have learned back in the late 80's/early 90s while "ground fighting". All simple but effective.
Highly recommended to any middle age person in their bjj journey. I’ve been training for over seven years, but just purchased this and it is a game changer
Tom is a great communicator. This video covers a lot of great topics. I'm a 54 white belt and the oldest in my gym. I train with a great group but no one has helped me as much with old man BJJ as Tom!
Key points about fundamentals and taking away the opponents control were stellar
As a slightly older than middle aged guy, this is a great video. It really drives the point of understanding that we're no longer spring chickens, so we need to adjust our game accordingly, and pay attention to our bodies. Highly recommend!
Exatly what I need, specifically the recovery
I’m looking straight at 40 soon and this instructional has really opened a lot of new strategies to deal with the young guns. Cardio isn’t what it used to be, kids, work, and training when I can - this has helped with keeping me in rounds and not gassing out after 2 rolls. Really enjoyed the live rolling commentary - helps break up just following move by move.
Found this after finally realizing that, as a 52-year old newer player, I need a game-plan that reflects my physical reality. Tom breaks things down in terms of survival periods between offense that make sense and that utilize the older grappler's advantages in areas like static strength. It's probably the first video I've watched from start to finish, without skipping some sections because I couldn't follow or didn't feel confident I could put into practice. Excellent material for the older guys like me!
secrets for slowing them down!!!!!!
The material Tom covers is just what the doctor ordered to help and keep older practitioners in the game longer. The content in this video will definitely help you to be more efficient with your Jiu Jitsu. Tom’s stretching and warm up advice has already helped me prepare my body for the mats.
Im 53. Been at a Gracie Barra for 9 mos now working my tail off 3-4x per week. Most of the time Its with guys in their 20's and 30's of any colour or with blue/purple belts. I've made some good progress...but every time I feel like quitting because my strength isn't what it was or my recovery time is slow...I watch this video and Tom inspires me to keep at it. He makes you realize that you can still benefit incredibly by staying at it. Key thing...learning how to slow down the young bucks. Of all my videos, and I have many, this is my favourite.
Awesome instructional! Started implemented the physical and mental aspects learned in this video. Thank you Mr. Deblass for all you jiujitsu knowledge! :call_me_hand::call_me_hand:
A great video for older grapplers!
Good video that should help to continue the training and avoiding injuries.
Tom Deblass really goes into amazing detail on how to perform as an older BJJ practitioner. This series has really kicked up my game and I am surviving longer against higher belts.
Great Instructional!! I started Bjj at 49 and this video from Tom DeBlass has been great going into training Jiu Jitsu. Tom has done a great job with his advice/recommendations for training, recovery tips, and techniques. Highly recommended to any middle age person in their bjj journey.
Very detailed, but simple, and easy to adapt
Great stuff not just for older practitioners but for everyone. Shows you how to slow the game down and take away some of the variables of grappling which is jiu jitsu in a nutshell.
Tom Deblass shares his warm up and recovery ideas which are well worth the price of this instructional video. The content on strategy to even the odds with the young and vigorous should not be overlooked as well
