I absolutely love this video. I have watched this one and others of Tom’s videos several times.
Content was excellent. Instructions what do to do to protect yourself from injury. Techniques were great and Tom used a brown belt that was younger and a blue belt that was a middle aged man.
Good tips on how to slow down younger partners and to protect oneself from injuries. He also helped to set the right expectations for training when it comes to the older guys.
Excellent as always from Tom. Really useful techniques and instruction and I’ve been able to apply these principles immediately.
As an older player who is constantly up against the younger, faster opponents, Tom does a fantastic job breaking down positions to make your opponent work hard. Great breakdowns and explanations in different positions you will end up in. The warm up and recovery was also worth the price alone. Really enjoyed this one and can’t wait to try some of these moves in the gym!
Started BJJ 7 months ago at age 53. Tom's video instruction is excellent, especially for an older practitioner and one trying to work around chronic injuries. Not only are the techniques simple and effective Tom provides great tips on warm up and recovery. Well worth the money.
Really important tips geared for a segment of students who have to train differently
Great, I love it:muscle::martial_arts_uniform:🙏
As a 39yr old blue belt that's been training over eight years, I'm noticing that I have to change my game. Increasingly I have to adjust to keep pace with 20 somethings. I had my meniscus repaired, so I'm not eager to risk blowing out my knee again. This video is tremendously helpful for middle aged players who need a strategy to keep up and stay injury free.
If you want longevity in grappling this instructional is a must. Tom gives solid advice and techniques to stay consistent and competitive in this video series. I have found all of his instructionals great and this one is just as good as his others.
Really liked it and will continue to watch/implement these techniques.
If you're older and slower this is full of good advice to slow down those speedy young chaps (and ladies) Tom always delivers easy to follow techniques.
Excellent video. As a beginning middle ager, the video provide great training on technique and I really enjoyed the advice on recovery.
Great warm up and techniques that don't require speed and atleticism.
After 4 months of lockdown due to covid I was looking forwards to the opening of the academy this week. I spent the last 4 months reviewing instructionals so I could come back with a bit more knowledge and have some survival concepts, as I was a bit tired of being smashed in every session. After viewing Tom's instructional I went to the gym 4 times this week and applied several of the techniques. They work, as simple as that. I was able to maintain my close guard both bottom and top and not feel exhausted in the process. A blue training partner asked me if I had been doing weights over the last 4 months, he said that I was much stronger than before... I guess technique make you stronger... I am just at the beginning of the BJJ journey but like most things in life with training and knowledge you get better. Thanks Tom (I have bought 3 more of your instructionals and looking forwards to the next several months to try new things)
Tom is an amazing instructor, and for an older BJJ practitioner his advice is very timely. Can't say enough good things about it...
I was quite sceptical at first give Tom’s laid back and chatty style, but having used the techniques on my much faster and stronger son, I have found them to be really effective, so yes I would recommend
Great video
A No Gi version of this would be awesome !!!
Great video and techniques. Really helpfull for people my age who's struggling against strong and faster guy in his 20'
Great content!:call_me_hand:
Great instructional video, detailed and easy to follow steps that anyone can benefit from.
Fantastic instructional, great content with detailed examples and recommendations for the older grapplers. I’m 36, with a fused lumbar spine, this instructional speakers to me, not only is it inspiring, it’s extremely helpful. Professor Tom, gives you his insight and routines to not only keep you on the mats, but also to be more successful. The stretch routines, plus exercises are extremely important for the older guys like me, but it’s the instructions on how to slow the rolls down, while still being competitive that’s truly gold. Thanks so much Professor Tom for yet another amazing instructional, and for supporting us old guys!
