Waldo Zapata was a BJJ genius! As a para-athlete I have often struggled to pass guard and maintain certain positions and for this reason I would have recommended the z grip to anyone, it has instantly improved my game in difficult positions and improved my ability to play a better inside game.
This man was so clever and so innovative. I love all his system.
This was a very interesting series, and I like the way the professor showed the use of the grip to pass several different guards. He explained it very well, and I have already begun incorporating this grip into my passing. A must have.
Very easy to use and powerful details! ! I plan to purchase other series as well.
Managed to used this concept instantly. But going over it more than once will truly give you the independence clarity to is this grips full potential. Already had training partners confused on how is the grip so strong when in reality its where you grip it that makes a difference. Overall a great grip option for passing added to your arsenal.
A grip super simple, but so useful and strong. Many times, it seems magic, a cheat code. Thanks Waldo Zapata to share this knowledge, you are a great teacher.
W.Z. is one of the most comitted teachers I have ever watched. He shows the key points of the concepts and thectechniques as well. Plus overall the Z grip is so applicaple anf avsilablr in so manx situations. Highly recommended!
One of those hidden gems. It's one of those simple details from a high level player that can be applied everywhere. I hate to compare, but I feel like this material ranks up there beside the Rickson Gracie stuff.
I bought this DVD and managed to apply the concept!
This grip is an excellent tool for your passing game. I used the "pocket grip" for setting up other grips in Judo. I never thought of using it for the "ground fighting" sessions a few of us were doing on our spare time.
top notch
These techniques can be applied straight away into your game. They are so effective and straight to the point. This will definitely put the opponent on the defensive!
In this DVD, Waldo Zapata expands the Z-grip universe by looking at its uses for passing the guard. Absolutely loooove this DVD and seeing how versatile and strong the Z-grip is. From top, the Z-grip becomes a swiss army knife in its versatility and ability to affect your opponent's posture, especially in ways that other "common grips" (ex. lapel grips) just can't. More or less all the main guards and the methods for passing them are covered in this DVD, which should give you a good grasp on all the different ways the Z-grip can be used. One thing I quite liked was the discussions after each technique with Ralf Carneborn (a high-level black belt in his own right) which covered a bunch of the most common responses that opponents will give you. These sections should quell any doubt over the Z-grip for anyone who has never tried it or had it tried on them! I've loved playing around with the different passes shown in this DVD in training and it has had me rethinking all of the old grips I used to take. Again, a must-have for any passing aficionado!
