Was completely unfamiliar with K guard before Coach Neil. Very interesting guard to play when strikes are involved. The ability to attack high and low really throws off your sparring partners.
Great series. Lotta instructors out there with info on k guard, but this one is the best. More detailed and more options. Don't waste your time, snag this one. Neil is also a wizard and puts out some slick content so pick it up.
Great k guard work
Amazing stuff! Thanks for sharing great insights and knowledge and techniques!
Blending this with the rest of my guard game has caught a lot of ppl of guard. Looking forward to using this in competition. My new secret weapon.
My guard is the weakest part of my game to the point that I actively avoid the position when possible. I am working to change that and I think his series of guard attacks will be crucial to this.
Neil is a badass coach, he spends the perfect amount of time describing the techniques as well as WHY you would do them. He also doesn't ******** around saying something is 'the ultimate technique" and always gives credit where it's due. Awesome value for money.
Really good amount of info. Got some good use out of it in class. Used it on some high Belts for sweeping. Feel like after a few months I’ll be nailing subs off k guard system
Great video and goes well with his Scissor Me Timbers video! Definitely recommend buying both!
Great guard for Mma. Easy to follow system. Neil appears to be a top notch teacher that I’d enjoy learning from regularly. Another style to add to my repertoire. Thank you!
Best instructor on bjj fanatics. Improved my game instantly.
This instructional blessed my game immediately. It flows well with my game and I have been using it successfully with high level mma fighters.
I purchased this instructional to have a better grasp on how this guard worked. I am pleasantly surprised with how the clear the instruction was presented. I wold definitely purchase another instructional by Neil Melanson.
I was looking for a secondary guard besides closed guard and this is a great way to start learning opens guards in general.
We need a sequel to this. K control offers so many movement options. I do not like the guard but with an open system like this I have come to love the bottom game. It is a different take on guard work and has been one of the sources of success for me on the mat.
I'm a big fan of Neil's and his K Guard stuff is awesome! I was learning this prior to others developing a game around definitely don't think Neil gets enough credit for the contributions in this DVD.
Neil is a great guy, really, and a great teacher. He is transparent about his sponsors, and is believable when says he doesn’t do instructional for money but to spread knowledge. What you get is instructional like no other, in which a master shares his (deep) comprehension of a position. It is not only a chain of moves connected, Neil tries to give you the tool to understand the position and develop your own game. And, if you listen carefully, your game will truly benefit from his lessons. About the k guard, I would recommend to start with this exact instructional (even there are on the site at least one I love as much on the position, this is the perfect starting point). Ps: at some points, his behaviours with his sparring partner are really hilarious
... and that's saying something. Not gonna lie. This one is weird. Very conceptual - less about the perfection of your step-by-step technique and more about feeling/getting used the position and body mechanics. I watched it all the way through and it didn't really make sense. I watched some parts again, drilled some things, and slowly integrated it into my game. I stopped for a while, out of frustration. Then brought it back some months later. It took a long time, but its finally starting to come together with some pretty amazing results. This is one of those things that really sucks in the beginning. When you're working it out, it doesn't half work - it just fails completely and you get crushed. Pay very close attention to the beginning section where he talks about general concepts. That's where your mistake will probably be. If you have the patience, you'll have a new mma-ready guard in your jiu jitsu game, that also creates impressive off-balances and submission opportunities in the no-gi jiu jitsu context.
Neil Melanson is a true technician that breaks down things in a way that everyone can understand. I don’t normally play K guard but it was something that I was interested in trying out. Plus at the time of purchase it was during the lockdown and it was daily deals. So it was too good of a deal to pass up. Have fun with this instructional because, there’s a lot of breaking down your opponent in this one.
Great, detailed instructional from jiuthe guy who first systematized K Control. Fantastic.
the app seems to function well and is also user-friendly
Neil Melanson is one of the best coaches in my opinion. Anything he puts out is worth the money
I have been looking for k concepts dvds for a long time! Thanks a lot to Neil for sharing his knowledge! Great system!
Great instructional dvd!
K Guard is fantastic for old man jits. It enables me to slow down and neutralize those younger, faster players. A rebalancing of the scales!
