Great intructional dvds !
Finally, I now have an understanding of how to play the turtle position. The hybrid jiu-jitsu/wrestling game that Neil teaches is awesome, it gives you a whole other dimension of grappling skills and techniques that "pure" jiu-jitsu guys seem to not have. The individual moves are great but for my money the gold is in all the explanations of the transitions between static positions. The teaching style is awesome. Neil is the first instructor I've seen that properly explains how to execute head and arm chokes, and yes there's a couple of those in here too. I'd like to say this is his best DVD yet but the truth is all his stuff is top level. You won't be disappointed. Coach Neil - yes we want a part 2 to this, but we also want a part 2 on everything you put out!
I have been looking forward to this instructional ever since I heard coach Neil say that he was a Turtle player! I have only gotten to a few of the techniques and it has truly opened up my eyes to how I can approach my turtle :turtle:! Thank you coach Neil and BJJ Fanatics! Please drop Part 2
Neils most in depth dvd so far and probably the best attacking from turtle dvd. im already adding bits and peices to my classes warmups.
I've been hearing for years about Coach Neil's "offense in turtle" tactics, and I was super excited to find out that BJJ Fanatics filmed an instructional for it. It is so helpful, especially if you're like me and can get frozen and too defensive in turtle and can't scramble as quickly as your opponent. Stuff like the bail out to a Russian tie are a revelation! Highly recommended!
This instructional from coach Neil Melanson is definitely one of my favourites. There is so much information that I will surely be watching it again and again for years to come. All of Neil Melanson´s instructionals shine because of his ability and disposition to utilize, break down and explain effective and efficient grappling techniques, regardless of the sport they come from. That is very true for this DVD, as he explains the turtle from a multitude of perspectives. The turtle is a very common yet under-analyzed position, and this DVD truly gives you everything you need to know to stay safe and start mounting offense. The concepts and techniques contained in this instructional are nothing short of mind-blowing and it deserves to be promoted as such. If you are reading this review and not sure if you should buy it, trust me when I tell you that you will not regret it.
Been waiting for this since Neil mentioned he was a turtle player in one of his first vids. This is fantastic material for developing a solid turtle game, something I've been trying to achieve with minimal resources; Telles instructional for example. But this series goes into so much depth. Heavy with concepts and techniques. It's going to take a good few months to work through properly but I would say the concepts alone are already helping me and I cant wait to really start adding in some of the techniques. In short this is probably the only turtle series you'll need it just covers everything. Certain stuff might need tweaked for Gi but concept wise itll be the same. Get a turtle game guys, never understood why there was so little out there on the position. Get this and start making guys look ******.
I have just started working through this instructional as it's around 9 hours of content, as always it is absolutely packed with gems of wisdom from Neil, this time on a part of the game which is rarely addressed in depth. Neil shows a comprehensive plan to use the turtle not just for regaining guard as it's usually used but also to set up wrestling style attacks, submissions, sweeps, escapes, scrambles and also the often forgotten but super important skill of just being able to stand up safely. Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to be a better grappler overall, the crossover to MMA is also great as with all other videos by Neil. It is great to see Neil's passion for sharing the strategies, techniques and tactics that he has developed over so many years too, many thanks for another great instructional 🙌
