The Fastest Way: To Becoming Effective In Standing Position (No Gi) is like therapy for guard-pullers. If you’ve ever slapped hands and immediately sat down like your legs were allergic to gravity, this is the fix you didn’t know you needed. John Danaher takes the mystery (and fear) out of the standup game. He doesn’t just teach you moves—he teaches you how to not die on your feet. The focus on grip fighting, body positioning, and safe entries makes this perfect for jiu-jitsu athletes who didn’t grow up in a wrestling room eating singlet-flavored mat burn. What I loved: No need to be explosive—just systematic and sneaky. You learn how to get into dominant tie-ups without getting tossed into another zip code. Makes you feel like you’re playing chess while everyone else is headbutting checkers pieces. Teaches you how to control the chaos instead of diving into it. Danaher’s dry wit and clinical precision are here in full force—and while he probably doesn’t recommend “yeeting yourself into a fireman’s carry” on day one, he gives you the tools to build a real standing game without that “what do I do with my hands” energy. Highly recommend for jiu-jitsu folks who want to stand up with confidence (and dignity).
