I am of slightly above average height and have thick legs, so I did not encounter early success with triangles. I was tired of getting passed every time I attempted, so watching and drilling this series has been my most recent project. Already my triangles have improved significantly. I highly recommend this series.
Da best kine instruction fo whoop da guy across from you.
Deeply detailed, logical, with attack flows and setups that can be trained immediately! John is a clear instructor, and it shows!
Great instructional!
As a white belt who just wants to learn triangles, I love this video; it covers so many aspects of the technique. - covers 5 different types of triangles - demonstrates how to effectively eliminate the opponent’s shoulder in each type of triangle (necessity for short legged people like myself) - shows practical applications/scenarios - as always, JD is very articulate. If you are passionate about triangles, then learning from this video will speed up your progress for sure. Highly recommended.
100% worth the money. John does very well at fully explaning the technique and pretty much every around it which helps give a very complete understanding of the technique and when to apply it. John also spend precious time explaining the philosophy and concept behind the technique which really gives a deeper understanding of it. Finally, for those who also have to live with their gym closed because of covid, I think its a super nice way of having class at home that you can practice with a friend or your wife to keep progressing.
The best triangle instructional in the game. Everyone should have this.
A very detailed and thorough rethinking of approaching triangles. I recommend watching it at faster than 1x speed. The details and analyses are great!
Well thought and structured! Loved all the concepts and the way they were explained.
After 3-4 weeks, I have only managed to cover about half of this video series. Yet, it has allowed me to improve my game noticeably: I have more options to play with and have more success with triangles. Viewing the video alone will not do much good without the necessary drilling. I am lucky to have a training partner who is equally keen to try out triangles. Thanks for the good product!
Very impressed.
Can’t say enough about this series. You can find a million ways to enter a triangle on YouTube. But this series goes in depth into the mechanics, principles, and details that you cannot find anywhere else. I will be watching this every few months for many years to come.
John Danaher emphasizes on the "why", which is great to understand the move and to "think" BJJ. I also like the repetitive aspect of his videos. He delivers a lot of informations at times, some of those informations are more important than others. That way, it puts into perspective what are the more and the less important aspects of the course (the more he repeats himself, the more important).
Danaher's Triangle instructional is my second most favorite instructional after his leg lock series. I learned about 5 triangles divided into two categories based upon your ability to transition between them and your body position. In addition, Danaher explains the joint locks available which include upper body and lower body attacks. The transitions are seamless and the finishing mechanics are clearly explained. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this instructional and look forward to incorporating what I have learned into my training.
Danaher approaches the triangle with theory before techniques, which fits my preferred learning style. John's articulate explanations are easy to understand and remember, and feel relevant to my interests as a white belt with over a year on the mat. Highly recommend for all levels.
John Danaher doesn't give you 2 or 3 hours for 100 bucks, his are usually around 10 hours each. Add the discounts from bjj fanatics and you're paying 10 or 15 dollars for each hour. any question you're usually left with is answered in one of usually around 10 to 12 chapters are in EACH of 8 or so videos all included in each instructional.
I thought if someone was a certain size a triangle won't work with my leg length. not only can it work, but through John's instructional I found a new way to execute them regardless of the person's size and it's way more effective.
Just an amazing instructional! I will be definitely getting more from John! Thanks!!!
great insight
I have been laser focused on putting into practice the guidance from this video, over the last three months. And have watched all the sections several times. It has been transformative for my game. Best investment I have ever made in my bjj game. JD’s approach to triangles is completely different than what I have otherwise been exposed to. Hitting Triangles is no longer a grind that requires all my strength, while creating a significant risk of getting stacked. Half the time the tap now comes within a couple seconds of locking it in, because of how efficient the techniques are. Going to get arm bar instructional next. Hope it is as good as the triangles one.
Awesome video, John really breaks everything down and explains all the details. As a new white belt I have found his videos a must have for trying to learn bjj.
In depth high level content.
Amazing instructional!
As a beginner in BJJ, and an educator, I think a lot about the teaching and learning of Jiujitsu. This video series is very accessible to someone new to BJJ, and, I suspect, to more experienced practitioners as well. I really appreciated the structured learning. What's the big picture? What are you looking for and trying to do when setting up triangles? Realize that there are more options than just front triangles. I then appreciated the drills - both solo and partner - that help to build the muscle memory required to successfully execute a triangle. And, of course, I appreciated the demonstration of the concepts behind the various types of triangles. I have found that the content in this series really augmented what I am learning in my classes. It helps to hear similar information explained in a variety of ways. I highly recommend.
