Brief, but helpful info on basic escapes from bottom.
Necessary Concepts that every player needs
Very Good Material
Understandable and effective
This is one of the first videos that I ever purchased. I watched it again as a two stripe blue belt to refresh my memory and give a review. At first glance, it seems a bit short, but that's really because Joel goes through the techniques at a fast pace. However, he gives good details and repeats each technique twice (I believe). Three possible complaints: He skips a few possibilities so it isn't a kitchen sink tutorial, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The second complaint someone might have would be audio hum. It isn't terrible but you might notice it. Finally, the price is a bit high for under thirty minutes of video. As I mentioned, part of this is because he is direct and to the point. But that is noticeably short compared to other instructionals. If you wait for a daily deal and use a discount code, the price becomes a non-issue. I'm going to give it five stars, but it is possible to argue there are better options out there. On the other hand it might be just right for a white belt.
Some helpful ways to escape mount and easy to remember after watching only once or twice, excellent demos
Good to review!
Great video broken down beautifully that gives you foundational knowledge applicable in several different ways
I found this video to be great for being a white belt. It reinforced things I already knew and gave me some new looks for others. The video was easy to follow and presented well.
For any white belt, this should be required watching. I picked up 3 major things to add to my game as a white belt.
very detailed.
This was the first BJJF video I ever purchased. I was only 1 month into class and needed some extra insights on dealing with being mounted. Joel teaches in such a straightforward and easy to follow manner that you CAN put these things into practice. I have been able to apply this to our rolling sessions and escaped mount a few more times than I would have. Confidence builder.
Short but really efficient and well-detailed course. I like Joel's approach to drills and how he demonstrate them. Good stuff.
Straight-forward and effective instruction from an expert in the art with a Jiu Jitsu pedigree that can't be beat! (Luis Heredia --> Rickson Gracie) Joel clearly demonstrates the details that make these defenses and escapes work for beginners and at a high level. This is a must purchase for both beginners and advanced practitioners...we all have busy lives and limited hours in the day...these videos highlight the key fundamental techniques that we should all be dedicating our time to perfecting. It goes without saying that I highly recommend it.
Straight to the point and filled very clear and critical details. Perfect for white belts who to get better at surviving and escaping.
Love Joel's content. Very happy with the purchase.
Excellent info here. Great for beginners !
Sometimes teachers forget to articulate the details that they now do instinctively. They can also over-talk the technique. Sensei Bouhey keeps it simple for the beginner. He hints at more advanced options as he takes you through. Just right in my opinion. Great instructional for beginners. My son and I will work on these in tonight's home mat session. (I'm a BJJ beginner, but I have trained/taught wrestling, Karate, Danzan-ryu Jujitsu, and TKD.)
Essential stuff to develop a versatile escaping system from mount, that can grow with you as you progress. Excellent.
Great breakdown and detail on bridge and roll escape anencephaly especially in different situations. It’s a must watch because of that but lacked detail on elbow escapes
Good but short
Top notch instruction.
These were all very helpful tips for someone that just starting out.
Good information, but pretty basic stuff. It was clear and helpful.
This was a great buy. I didn't know who Joel Bouhey was but after watching this instructional I found him to be a tremendous instructor and I really like his style. The techniques and fundamentals he covered in this instructional are essential for beginners and white belt level. Good details that are often overlooked. I can't wait to incorporate them to my game. The production of the video are high quality. Great value buy.
