I'm a fan on Priit's defensive posture, and the Running Specifically has been stopping me get stomped by higher belts. What I specifically love about this instructional is that it's the only one that shows TRANSITIONS between Priit's Defensive Positions - which is half of what it means to use them.
Do not recommend. Developing a passive mindset.
great info and easy to apply
Loving the transition details to continue evading the attack and reset your guard.
You can't go wrong by what are shown in these videos. I put a year into learning his system and I am glad I came across it.
Great defensive concepts, easy to implement into your rolls right away!
Love that #priitshit
Priit has very profound knowledge of defense. It's a sort of functional minimalism that enables you to defend every conceivable attack with a few simple postures. The running man and baby bridge can get you out of many bad positions without the need to memorize a bunch of complicated techniques. I would recommend Priit's instruction over anyone else's in regards to defense. He also has a website at defensivebjj.com for anyone who wants to delve a little deeper than his videos.
Great Instruction. Gave me a different perspective on defending. I recommend it to all
Yet again Pritt provides the goods! I currently have all his DVD’s on bjj fanatics which as I work through( repetitively) I notice continuous improvements in my game. Thanks to Pritt and BJJ Fanatics 😎
Great content and easy to follow and find by chapters. Very well shot and great list of techniques
Great stuff! This connects many of the concepts from Priit’s other videos. This can be watched independably, but I recommend to watch the other videos first in order to really understand what this does. As always mindblowing simplicity that does wonders to the defensive game. This is not just another escape collection, but brand new concepts and ways of thinking defense.
I found Priit through the series of BJJ Globetrotter seminars he has taught that are available online. His approach is very different, but very effective. Following his system has absolutely transformed my turtle defenses, and as I work through the other positions (Running Man, Hawking, Sitting Turtle, etc) I expect it to transform my side control as well. When these new DVDs came out I purchased them almost immediately. That said, I am slightly disappointed. The techniques are still exceptional and the instruction is quality, but Priit does not go into as much depth here as I had hoped. I feel more informed than I was from watching the free content available on this system, but I was hoping that this series would cover the "next level" of combinations, counters, and escapes that he references but does not explain. For example, his seminar discusses using baby bridge as a defense against guillotines and arm triangles, but the "how" of those defenses is not covered in the baby bridge section of this instructional. Similarly, he mentions the possibility of chaining the positions with escapes, but does not consistently go into the details of finishing those escapes, or when which combination is appropriate. He mentioned that the system can be integrated with traditional frames and guard retention, but does not entirely show how. He feels a conflict, I think, of how much time to spend explaining the technique compared to convincing people why they should try a technique that is so different from what their instructor showed them. So, four stars because the content that is covered is excellent and Priit is an exceptional instructor. His system has absolutely transformed both my top and bottom game in terms of how I think about underhooks and positional control. But only four stars because this instructional is only a bare introduction to the system, not a complete guide, and indeed may not make complete sense without also purchasing the Turtle and Sitting Turtle instructionals.
Really good series good add on from the basics
I am following Priit's ideas since BJJ Globetrotters Zen Camp in 2019. His stuff is simple and easily applicable even against high level opponents, but you need to abandon some preconceptions that you learned before (e.g. don't expose your back). This instructional is no different, if you already learned Turtle and Panda - this one is like the final piece of the puzzle. All those postures work together extremely well as a system, and they all can be pressure tested since day 1 with great success. I would even say that if you want to dive in into Priit's system - this DVD should be your starting point, since it covers the most defensive postures in it, and on top of that you can add both sitting Turtle and the Turtle itself. This DVD will make your training partners confused, because you would learn all the shades of side control and turtle, and use it as coherent system, while other people are used to generic simplified distinction between being pinned in "side control" and exposing the back in "turtle". This positional awareness will enable you to play with transitions to create openings to escape and/or attack in sort of funky way, that is surprisingly effective. Can't wait for more stuff from him!
