Breaks down some of the fundamental building blocks!
Travis is a great fighter, but more than that a clever guy. he found a loophole in the bjj preparation (standup game) and not only gives you advises for improve yourself, but also expose the flaws in the mindset of better player than you (generally speaking, wrestler and judo are better in the standup game than any bjj practitioner..)
Super detailed and helpful when starting to learn stand up
Travis is always interesting to listen to and this is one of the most comprehensive grappling videos I have ever watched. I don't know of too many other resources that answer so many questions or so much information in one place before.
Very good
I really enjoyed this video and hope there are more volumes coming in this series. I specifically enjoyed the kuzushi sections and feel like it is much easier to set up takedowns of all forms.
This is one of the most comprehensive tutorials on body mechnics applied to the takedown game. Very good Information here.
Travis Stevens is such a great producer in his instructional. I can sometimes appreciate Danaher aswell but Travis have a nudge more towards the practical - straight to it - that I like. Im only 1 volume in, but I know Im returning to this one for a loooong time forward.
I'm an older practitioner who will not pull guard, this was a much needed resource to learn about the stand up aspect of grappling. Travis is a wonderful teacher.
I bought this to understand how to get to takedowns and maybe even judo throws. I'm a BJJ practitioner with good mat skills but a bad success ratio with takedowns. Like probably 80-90 % of us in jiu-jitsu. This is a great resource if you're willing to invest the time to really learn how to grab and move your opponent to get the openings for throws. I like Travis' coaching style, although it takes some digesting to understand how all tactics fit together as a system: What to use, why and when.
Great insight and focus on the importance of gripping skills and strategies ,often not mentioned by others apart from John Danaher. Its all great that it covers the POV of Wrestlers, Judokas and BBJers
If standup is a language and takedowns are vocabulary, then this instructional teaches you the grammar. After watching, I was able to construct a general gameplan for the standup game. The lessons about gripping and kuzushi are so widely applicable that it allows one to set up any takedown or series of takedowns. The immense value of this instructional comes form the fact that it allows one to watch any takedown video in the future and make it work by applying the concepts taught here. The lessons about grip breaks even somewhat translate to situations on the ground. I am very excited about future volumes in this series! Thanks a lot Travis!
An excellent course on kuzushi and entering yourself in position to takedown for BJJ, with the gi. I was looking for a video like this for years. The very BEST on the field .
A great explanation on how and why off balancing works. Travis is a great teacher and explains things both simply and throughly. A must have for the bjj practitioner looking to improve their stand up grappling. I feel more confident on my feet just watching!
