Good
Ive been trying to learn the inner workings via yt but Mr. Barnett you are a hero with the details
This is an excellent instructional series. The head and arm ride has always been one of my go-to techniques, and Josh does a fantastic job breaking it down. He covers everything from the fine details of maintaining pressure to a wide variety of submission chains. Highly recommended for anyone looking to sharpen their top game.
Good details for wearing out, torturing, and tapping your opponent.
This is so good and so useful I don’t even know where to start - I am a blue and I tapped two browns today with different techniques from this set. The devil is always in the details - and the details are clearly explained. Well worth some serious study
All the different options and experiences shared by a legend
Josh's instructionals are great. This is one of my favorites that I'll revisit.
Josh’s head and arm video ,whatever one may choose to call the position …scarfhold, kesa gatame is VERY high quality and full of excellent little details! He is exceptional at articulating his message and breaking down the movements so that everyone should be able to grasp the ideas.
I'm a former wrestler and judoka so am very familiar with using this position to pin. Barnett teaches how to turn it into a punishing ride and get the submission.
I’d give Josh Barnett’s The Catch Kesa Gatame a full 5/5. His approach to Kesa Gatame is detailed, powerful, and accessible, adding a whole new dimension to my game. This instructional is packed with insights into control, pressure, and submission options that make Kesa Gatame a real threat. I'd also recommend pairing this with Henry Akins’ Soul Stealer series. The combination offers a well-rounded understanding, blending Barnett’s catch wrestling perspective with Akins' pressure and control tactics. Together, they make an invaluable toolkit for anyone looking to elevate their pinning game.
great details
Awesome details to get into this position and how to neutralize training partners. I've been able to use this effectively on bjj guys.
good details.
Coach Barnetts Catch Series of instructionals always deliver the goods!
Especially great for BJJ because he shows more of a catchwrestling approach to this in my opinion highly underestimated position.

I was excited to get this download. I had a pretty good understanding of this technique from previous training and teachers, but Josh's instruction goes a bit deeper. Little nuances here and there can make a huge difference. I was reminded of making sure my rides are active and my feet need to be positioned accurately to ensure the head and arm ride is effective. I love this series.
Some very cool ideas from an underutilised and often misused position. The nuances on keeping the pin are most valuable. The submissions Josh teaches from this position will certainly surprise your opponent.
This is go to position in BJJ and I learned a few extra details and a few new submissions
I really enjoyed this, can't wait to start adding this stuff to my game.
Catch Wrestling
Josh is very good at breaking down what he is teaching and explains what could happen, if you don't hit the position. As well on how to recover. I don't do GI. But I could see this being a nigh
This instructional by Josh Barnett is tremendous. Excellent demonstration of the variations of keta getame, or scarf hold/head and arm ride as it's also known. Strong focus on the importance of pressure, feeling where your opponent is moving, and what to expect. Has helped my game enormously. Highly recommend.
top!
What I love about this instructional is how concepts talked about in this (utilizing body weight, bone to bone for submissions, applying pressure) can be universal beyond the scarf hold. It's been a really fun twist to add to my game and can definitely catch people off guard!
