As a white belt the information Chris provides within this video has been instrumental in the vast improvement of my Bjj over the last few months. I cannot recommend this tutorial highly enough for ALL levels as the ideas and concepts explored will be invaluable for all. Thank you Chris for the fantastic instructional.
Chris is a great teacher, breaking down concepts and ideas in an easy to follow and entertaining package. This instructional has not only helped me as a practitioner but also as a coach. Would 100% recomend to all.
Really good, effective concepts. Recommend to anyone who wants to improve their defence game.
Full of information I wish I'd been told when I started, loads of immediately applicable details that will improve your BJJ. Been following Chris (plus Priit and a few others mentioned here) for a while and love their approach.
If your on the fence and not sure who Chris is, jump on Youtube and watch; 'Spring Camp 2019: How to Defend Everything with Chris Paines'. The concepts covered in this instructional are ground breaking in BJJ and its incredible that this wasn't figured out earlier, but I suppose the best idea's always seem so simple in hindsight. I really hope Chris comes out with more content because I love frustrating my training partners with this material. This instructional covers a lot of ground and is incredible value for money.
"Spring Camp 2019: How to Defend Everything with Chris Paines" is what I consider one single most influential BJJ video I've ever watched. I will never get tired to recommend it to anyone struggling in BJJ. Chris is a great teacher and goes through simple but very important concepts and shows how to apply them everywhere: guard, defensive postures, leg entanglements etc. Amazing stuff.
Ever since Chris announced his first instructional with BJJFanatics I kept checking the site almost daily to see if it already came out. And it did not disappoint. Chris is an amazing teacher with a unique but also very helpful view on Jiu Jitsu. This instructional focuses on defensive skills that goes beyond the submission and pin escapes that are presented in other videos. This is not just a collection of techniques, but a framework that will help your defense tremendously. If you want to be able to defend everything, get this.
Chris states the obvious at times, but obvious in jiu jitsu can be something you, or rather, the way you've been shown, is missing. We follow what we're taught either blindly or out of loyalty. Chris challenges this norm, advocates experimentation and gives concepts to explore rather than technique after technique. He's an intelligent, entertaining and highly skilled grappler. Do yourself a favour and listen to what he has to say
Focusing on the overarching concepts of defense in BJJ rather than just a single technique is a game changer. Understanding the why and not just the what makes this a requirement for everyones Fanatics library.
Chris is one of my most favorite instructors of Jiu Jitsu focusing on things that most practicioners would never even think about to adress. Often things that Chris says, put me in a rabbit hole of exploring where interesting stuff alway pop up. I can highly recommend this instructional!
Awesome instructional. I tried out some of the choke defense concepts this evening while rolling and was noticeably harder to choke. It even got a few remarks from partners.
Awesome instructional. Learning Jiu Jitsu can be tough as a white belt as it sometimes seems to be taught as a series of moves and reactions to opponents' moves. As a white belt I get dominated a lot but it was refreshing to roll with just a few simple concepts in my head and try to follow them throughout. I tried out some of the choke defense concepts this evening while rolling and was noticeably harder to choke. It even got a few remarks from partners.
