The Pillars of Defense: Turtle & Front Headlock Escapes by Gordon Ryan
This instructional has been fantastic - Gordon time and time again really shows why he’s the best in the world. From the smaller details to the big principles it has been so helpful for not only defending front head or turtle but also just generally guard retention. Also, it’s been a game changer being able to take these positions and actually turn them into offensive positions instead of just being purely defensive. 100% recommend !

Exit The System by Garry Tonon
Fantastic instructional! Concise coverage over the main attacks. But there is a bonus- the notion of escape with an immediate counter-attack is embedded in the techniques. So you're caught, you're free, and now you're on the hunt!

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:An in-depth, near-comprehensive guide to escaping pins.
Pin Escapes & Turtle Escapes: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
I have made use of this instructional extensively yet and had plenty of success applying most of the techniques. As a white belt, even though I've watched all the DVD and tried to apply most of the techniques, I still find it useful to come back to for the plentiful technical details to further refine a move every time I fall short. I'm giving this 4 out of 5 stars as I think more could have been covered with respect to technical mount. There also should have been more about turtle escapes especially since it's part of the DVD title. There's only about half of one volume devoted to turtle escapes and that's only for two grip and from one or two positions.
As good as Poutine
