After 4 months of lockdown due to covid I was looking forwards to the opening of the academy this week. I spent the last 4 months reviewing instructionals so I could come back with a bit more knowledge and have some survival concepts, as I was a bit tired of being smashed in every session. After viewing Tom's instructional I went to the gym 4 times this week and applied several of the techniques. They work, as simple as that. I was able to maintain my close guard both bottom and top and not feel exhausted in the process. A blue training partner asked me if I had been doing weights over the last 4 months, he said that I was much stronger than before... I guess technique make you stronger... I am just at the beginning of the BJJ journey but like most things in life with training and knowledge you get better. Thanks Tom (I have bought 3 more of your instructionals and looking forwards to the next several months to try new things)

Neil does an excellent job of breaking down the concepts and mechanics of the turtle position and the various outcomes that could be used. Too often, the turtle position is overlooked because it poses specific problems for exposing your back. NOT THE CASE! I come from a Shooto background, and the turtle is a great opportunity for me. There are a variety of attacks and reversals, and learning to manoeuvre in this position will only improve your grappling. However, keep in mind that this video is not about deliberately putting yourself in the turtle position; rather, it is about playing the position so you can confidently have an answer. I'm still working my way through this series, and I'm learning things I didn't know before.

This helps set you child up for success in life. I had my daughter enrolled in Little Ninjas program at Hayabusa Training Centre and she loved it. The movements are something you can do with your child and helpbuild a special bond to develop another BJJ lover in the family.

This is by far the most in depth video i have ever seen on the turtle position. I have always liked to play turtle and was able to immediately add so many of these techniques to my game but there is so much information presented ill be studying this for years. Coach Neil shows techniques ranging from beginner to advanced and situations from bjj mma and wrestling. Even if turtle is not your game if you train long enough you will end up there and this is a chance to turn it into a secret weapon

Silver Fox s a great teacher. He doesn’t only teach the techniques but also explain the concept why we doing that. The triangle dvds r another amazing work from him. The instructional shows how to counter common defence e.g. stack. Also, explain triangles not only submissions but also a control e.g. head n arm breaking their posture... Great dvds! The way he explains is very interesting n fun to watch too.

If you haven’t done your research into who Neil Melanson is, you should. He understands turtle from a very unique perspective and level of depth due to his background that few, if any, could rival. I purchased this instructional to prevent myself from a feeling of helplessness and lack of direction when I found myself in this position. Neil has a very technical approach into how you should play the position based off of your opponent, making a very daunting position feel like clockwork. As with all of his instructionals, there is no ‘fat’ or techniques that are questionable. They are solid and formed through his immense experience. On top of that, he is a constantly engaging instructor that you would find difficult to be bored by.

Neil is above and beyond the best instructor on BJJ Fanatics IMO... He’s the best at breaking down techniques and he’s the easiest to retain. The week I bought this, we happened to be drilling turtle at my academy. I didn’t even get through two volumes and my turtle was infinitely better and it cleaned up my single leg sweep bc I’d been slipping for a bit. Everything Neil teaches is different from every instructor on here but his techniques are legit and I become a better grappler when I study him. Looking forward to his oil check instructional

No Gi Open Guard Volume 1: K Guard by Lachlan Giles
I'm very used to all of Lachlan's instructionals (layout, logic) so this instructional immediately helped in that it is a continuation of his previous 50/50 leglock + guard retention DVD. I was able to pickup details immediately, even in the first 5 minutes of watching. I started with the last (section 8) DVD to get a summary of all the main moves by watching the drills portion first, as well as the narrated rolling to get an overall picture of how this K guard flows. If you're an open guard player in the gi, I highly recommend all of Lachlan's instructional as they all gel together to create a beautiful, fun, flowing game.

Tactical Turtle by Neil Melanson
Neil has been and always will be ahead of the game. If you arent real familiar with his stuff before you may be under the impression that his techniques are based on strength and size, but it isnt true. The tactical turtle is his most in depth instructional yet and some say it will put hair on your back after just the 1st 7 minutes. As usual his approach is unique and battle tested and as usual, implementing his style will have you dominating the mat. All joking aside, each of his techniques are clearly explained, simple to add to your game, conceptual in a way that can be utilized in different ways, and most importantly will work no matter your size, flexibility or athleticism. Not to mention are different than the way you or your opponents are used to learning. Why are you still reading this? Just buy the set!

The Body Lock Pass by Lachlan Giles
I have this heavy weight in my school, that spams the body lock pass (his specialty) and consistently smashes everyone, and passes them at the same time. He is immovable. I tried everything to regain my guard as hes performing this pass. Now i feel more equipped.

Precision Lapel Guard Escapes by Lucas Lepri
This is really an awsome instruction. I am a bit older than the average bjj athlete and use the ”old man’s game”, like pressure and half guard. Younger athletes with more modern styles often gives me trouble with the lapel. This instruction is really AMAZING, both in detail and how it breaks down different lapel guards. I have tried a few of these techniques when rolling in class & it really works! Highly recommended!!!
