The Basics of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by Andre Galvao
I love this fundamental course, broken down into training days, great instruction, just the right amount of information for each technique, easy to understand and perfect for training at home away from the mats. I have purchased more of Andre training. 1, 2, 3!

The Head Pressure Passing System by Matt Jubera
I have the privilege of being able to train under Professor Jubera for the last 4 years. My guard passing improved significantly after learning about passing using the head. I've had many training partners comment how much it sucks to be on the bottom of it and can attest to that being the recipient of that misery myself. I have to admit that I'm only 25 mins into the first section but I'm already learning a ton of details that I haven't picked up during the normal class time. I'm on a limited budget so I pick purchases like this carefully but from what I've seen so far I would gladly pay twice the amount. Another thing I would like to say about Professor Jubera is not only is he a World Champion but also one of the best, if not the best, instructors I've experienced. He explains the "why", not just the "how". He uses analogies that even a man of little brain like me can understand. My only criticism is I'm a deep half player is there's instruction on how to beat it :)

Sambo Academy: Arm Bars by Ivan Vasylchuk
Ivan is multi Sambo champion with huge experience. His arm bar seminar is a hidden gem. Theres a lot Sambo can bring to a grappling table - brilliant takedowns, armbars from all angels and leg locks among them. Taken from Japanese jiujitsu and modified, simplified by high level Soviet masters - theres a lot to learn from sambo.

Connected Reaction: Half Guard by Paul Schreiner
This is a deep dive into the half guard, by a guy who made one of the most applauded half guard instructional. What does this have? What DOESN’T it have is a better question. It’s loaded with tons of information, explained very well. All of it makes sense, there is never a dull moment. I’m really grateful BJJFANATICS got Paul to do this. Buy it, it’s worth $170 bucks easily. If you are looking to get into half guard, you can watch this, remember it, and start kicking ***. Paul has done all the hard work for you. Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:"Wrist lock the world"
Wrist Lock The World by Pete Letsos
Milestone breaking, most likely the most comprehensive wrist lock tutorial available on the internet. Not only does Pete show the techniques but also explains them conceptually in great detail. The focus here is clearly to enable the individual learner to understand and comprehend why/how or why not a certain wrist lock is going to work on a (resisting) training partner/opponent. Ultimately one is going to end up chasing wrist locks from literately every position :) Loving every minute of the instructional!

Response from BJJ Fanatics:call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Kids love it
Train With Your Kids by Joel Bouhey
This is brilliant. I’ve been trying to get my 9 year old son back into Bjj for years after he had a bad time and quit around age 5 or 6. Last night we started watching the instructional together and I was hoping he would be interested enough to just try one. 3 hours later I had to break his heart and turn it off for bedtime. The progression in one session from being unsure of where to go to smashing me in side control and hunting far side arm bars was amazing. I could have taught him the same technique but this presentation motivated and engaged him. He ran and grabbed my wife to watch him play the backpack game. Smiles and laughing the whole time. “More fun than Bjj class” I can’t wait to train with him today. These games will develop legit killer instincts. Worth twice the price well done.

Escaping From Side Control and Knee on Belly by Ante Dzolic
I am a fan of Ante Dzolic’s work. I have bought all his instructionals to date (March 2021) because he covers the material that I am interested in; the techniques are good and from my experience they work; the material is logically structured; he is a good teacher who doesn’t take himself too seriously; the video quality is good (i.e. picture, sound, angles and range); and importantly to me each instructional represents excellent value for money. Normally I write longish reviews for the BJJ Fanatics products that I have bought, but not today as hardly anyone reads them and it takes too much time. Please have a look at the list of chapters / techniques and you can see that this instructional thoroughly covers escapes from side control, kata gatame and modified kata gatame, and knee on belly both standard and reverse. If you are currently getting pinned and crushed, then don’t hesitate. Your progression will be easier and perhaps quicker if you can efficiently and effectively escape or reverse pins. If you watch, absorb and most importantly practice this material, rolling will be so much more fun and isn’t this what BJJ should be – Fun.

Footwork-Boxings Transit System by Teddy Atlas
A few ideas on footwork. Lot's of analogies.
Everything you need to know on Omoplata
The Whole Omoplata Enchilada by Lyanne Perez
The Omoplata has been something of a neglected submission in my game. Before this series I would find myself passing up on omoplata opportunities, with this series I have began to understand the Omoplata on a deeper level. This series gave me the tools and confidence to attack the omoplata, which opened up the Triangle/armbars that I am always seeking.

BJJ Drills For Grapplers of All Levels by Pete Letsos
Pete's drill techniques are some of the best in the sport of Jiu Jitsu. In this instructional you'll see an assortment of drills that work for all levels. These have helped me a lot in my personal journey to really open up my game and move. As a wrestler, this drill to **** emphasis that Pete lays out is fantastic for any beginner as well as any competitor. They work on all levels to better improve your game.

The Butterfly Guard System by Rafael Formiga
I enjoyed Formiga's buttefly guard. I am trying to improve my game on the potential sweeps from this position. I watched the instructional and I was able to use a lot of the moves during rolling so I strongly recommended it if you want to get better at this guard.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:A masterclass in hitting elbow escapes from everywhere
As mentioned in the title this is an absolute masterclass on how to hit elbow escapes from all possible situations. I wont lie Xande's English, mainly his ability to communicate ideas in English is a little bit rough... however the physical and subtle details in his movements are absolutely incredible and will help you massively in your efforts to pull off elbow escapes and be tough to crack defensively. This is one of the most foundational and important instructionals you can buy

Great info.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Unconventional, brilliant escapes to add to a fundamental escape game
Get Off Me Fool by Jeff Glover
In this instructional Jeff shows crazy things I think he personally developed/invented that I have never seen before even after watching tons of bjj content. Some of these moves are wacky, and unconventional... but not just one time gimmicks, they are effective and I have had good success using them. However I would not recommend this to be your primary escapes content you base your game off off For example, what Jeff shows from bottom side control is insane and mindblowing, but I believe you should know the fundamental escapes from bottom side and add this powerful technique/tool to that game. Huge respect to Jeff to sharing such unique and brilliant grappling tech he has developed that I have not seen anywhere else

Sneaky Submissions by Kaelum Kalista
This instructional is organised around four topics – Gi chokes, armlocks, triangles and offensive submissions. The first three topics are classified as defensive submissions and the final topic is covering submissions where you are in the dominant position. Importantly the entries to the submissions have an element of misdirection or entrapment and hence the description sneaky submissions. The Gi chokes section includes a baseball choke where the opponent is enticed to pass your closed guard, which then enables the full application of the choke; what is described as a fake baseball choke to obscure the entry into a collar choke variant and performed from the closed guard or alternatively when the opponent is enticed to pass your guard; a loop choke that is taught from half guard where again the opponent is enticed to pass your guard and this technique is also taught from closed guard and sit-up guard; a really sneaky loop choke that starts from either a sit-up guard or a half guard where you encourage a known back-taker to pass with the assumption that they will move to your back and their own movement activates the choke; and a strange and sneaky submission called the force choke that utilises the Gi to frame your forearm across the front of their neck to choke the opponent. The armlocks section includes a simple and effective armlock from closed guard when you have moved into what is termed the slip position (i.e. side scissor); an armbar from closed guard where the opponent’s forward arm is controlled, elbow framed and with your same side leg placed over their shoulder, your legs locked and a small bridge is used to achieve the submission; from closed guard an armbar or armlock (i.e 2 techniques) when the opponent defends an armbar; and an armlock when the opponent postures to defend a threatened triangle choke. The triangles section includes the foundational triangle from closed guard where the opponent’s hand positioned closest to his torso is pushed back into their torso (described as stuffing the elbow) and immediately the triangle is applied; this is followed by a version of the triangle entry from closed guard, which relies on tricking the opponent to thinking you are attacking their forward arm with an armbar; another closed guard triangle with an entry that looks similar to a scissor sweep, but where the opponent’s front arm, which is holding your lapel is displaced by your top leg to provide the entry into the triangle; a triangle from closed guard with an entry that appears to the opponent to be a hip bump sweep; and the final triangle entry (described as a lapel triangle), which is used where the opponent is stalling in your closed guard and the opponent’s Gi in combination with your leg/foot is used to raise his arm to enable you to enter the triangle. The offensive submissions includes the shotgun armbar from side control, which is a quick armbar applied to their nearside arm; the Kong lock which is another simple and quick armbar entered while on the mount and where a kimura style grip is applied to the opponent’s arm, with your arm wrapping their arm across their elbow with the hyper extension applied after you slide off the mount; a triangle attack entered from side control and finished on your back; an entry for either an armbar attacking the nearside arm or a triangle from side control; and the bonus technique is a bicep crush / slicer from a leg lasso. Sound and picture quality are good. As necessary, close-up views are provided and the techniques are demonstrated from different angles. Kaelum’s instruction and demonstrations are clear and easily understood. As would be expected Kaelum goes through the technique slowly several times and then performs the technique at “full speed”. The techniques that Kaelum has chosen to include in the instructional are not complicated and for most people should be easy to remember and perform. I think the description of the techniques being “sneaky” is apt. For me this is a really fun and relatively inexpensive instructional. The instructional has a total run time of 50 minutes. I can imagine people overlooking this instructional as there are so many other titles available, however the entries are gold and the techniques work. You will definitely surprise people with these submissions.

Good technique. Having said that the DVD does not include many triangle variations and I knew them all already (details included). I find this DVD more appropriate for beginners.
