Systematically Attacking The Arm Bar by Gordon Ryan
Gordon makes this stuff look so easy but it’s not, it’s very technical and takes time to develop but that’s a good thing. Impressive array of grip breaks, that lead to the arm bar and yes GR the armpit wedge is genius.

Gordon makes this stuff look so easy, but it’s not. A lot of these concepts/ideas take time It’s very technical. But that’s what I like, being efficient and using intelligent maneuvering to gain advantage/submission. And yes GR the armpit wedge is genius. Phenomenal arm bar instructional definitely for all belt levels wish I had this knowledge when I first started.

Initially I bought this instructional for leg lock flow, I thought maybe I’d seen some leg lock transitions in a practical setting but it’s just names and positions which is good but I’m past that stage in my leg lock journey. However, this instructional has a few things i haven’t seen and I kinda like how Troy goes right to the submission process…makes for a quick reference guide.

Octopus Guard Engineering by Adam Wardzinski
Wardzinski is a world champion and a great teacher. I play a similar game based on half and butterfly guard and get into octopus situations a lot. This has really helped my game, recommended especially for half guard players, but octopus is also relevant as one of the last lines of defense.

Movement Art Passing System: Concepts For Headquarters by Nick Salles and Danny Maira
I bought this Instructional because I find myself quite often in the Headquartes-Position and wanted to know more about ways to handle my partner's possible reactions and defenses. Danny and Nick are great Instructors, I especcially like their back-and-forth-style of teaching which keeps it interesting and points out key elements very good. The techniques shown are also very broad and clear to understand. So why only three stars? First, there is almost no talk about HOW TO GET INTO THE POSITION, which for an instructional that advertises itself as "for all skill levels" is a MUST have in my opinion. It scratches the entry from delariva, that's it. Also, there is no "bringing it all together / recap", which for example Lachlan Giles and Garry Tonon do (really well) in their instructionals. Basically: This Instructional is stuffed with really good content but it lacks a beginning and an end. Still a good instructional that, with about half an hour more content at the beginning and the end, could easily be an awesome, five-star-instructional!
