Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Without question, the BEST consultant in the business!
The Academy Code by Patrick Cooligan
I have been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the past 12 years but have only been working in the business for the past 6. When I came on as Academy Director at Renzo Gracie Denville I had the presupposition that my transition from student to manager would be relatively simple, considering I had an understanding of Jiu Jitsu culture and structure of how classes operate. Boy, was I wrong! I had much more to learn. Luckily for me I have had Professor Patrick Cooligan by my side! Since my inception Professor Cooligan and REC Success have brought me from a White Belt Academy Director to a Black Belt Academy Director! I’m giving 5 stars only because 10 stars aren’t an available choice.

Self Mastery: Solo BJJ Training Drills by John Danaher
This is a great video to open your eyes to some of the key things your body should be capable of, and gives a great explanation at the level of proficiency needed. Not a very glamorous video, but all of these movements have been critical to my limited success in BJJ. I am very happy with this video, and feel that it would be well worth some $$$.

Half Guard Passing and Dynamic Pins: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
Still working my way through this one but it is excellent
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Too little butter spread over too much bread
BJJ For The Street by Burton Richardson
The instructional is quite bloated in my opinion, with a lot of verbose fillers, anecdotal stuff, and generally poorly paced. It could have easily been 1/3 of its current length and still go over all the points covered in detail. There are some useful tips and ideas that might be worth trying out, but overall it's annoying how much time you have to waste just waiting for the instructor to get to the point. FYI the first technical bit is actually shown after the 25 min mark. Cannot recommend for full price, maybe wait for a sale, if at all.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Still use this pass
The São Paulo Passing System by Leonardo Nogueira
I bought this probably too early into my BJJ training, and didn't really understand the art well enough to apply it properly. A few years on and a bit more experience, I recently went back to this and it holds up. There's loads of key details that I missed first time around, and I use a version of this pass in nearly every training session. Really feel for the training partner in this one!
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:“A beautify opportunity” - to learn some effective positional escapes (long review)
Escapes Engineered For Guys Over 40 by Thomas Rozdzynski
Thomas Rozdzynski advises that this instructional has been created to help older grapplers who are having difficulty freeing themselves from compromised positions after their explosive approach of pushing and pulling for escaping starts to fail. Techniques selected for this instructional have been chosen to allow you to escape mechanically (e.g., leverage, frames, wedges, etc) rather than relying on strength. Specifically, escapes are taught for mount, technical mount, side control including hip control (i.e., hip on hip opponent facing you) and reverse hip control (i.e., same as previous but opponent facing your feet) and half guard. The content is logically ordered. The instructional is taught in Gi and has a total runtime of 2 hours and 26 minutes. What sets this instructional apart from other escape instructionals is that there is more than just a series of effective techniques. Thomas Rozdzynski teaches his approach to escaping, which includes what to do and what to avoid; the different stages of escaping; understanding the position that you are in, which includes your opponent’s balance, their control points, whether their weight is distributed or centralised, the requirement for framing; and the need to use mechanical escapes rather than pushing and pulling the opponent; and he discusses the concepts of escaping the key positions covered in this instructional, including distributing the opponent’s weight prior to escaping, framing and controlling the position of the opponent, and before attempting to escape, the importance of keeping your opponent’s hands busy so that it is hard for them to attack effectively. Thomas Rozdzynski as shown in this instructional, is an effective instructor. He speaks clearly and logically and remains focused on the subject matter. His demonstrations are clear and consistent, however his demonstrations for this instructional are generally only filmed from either a side on view or a head on view. There were times I wished that different angles had been filmed and for the camera to have been focused on the instructor to better see the detail of a technique. The instructional was filmed with a fixed camera. Video (quality including lighting and focus) is good, however at times range could have been better (i.e., instructor and uke to fill the frame and less background). There are no issues with sound. From my perspective what is taught in this instructional is good BJJ for people of all ages. Key requirements taught for an effective positional escape include engaging the mind; not to reactively respond with force; and to instead respond with appropriate techniques that rely on good mechanics.

In this instructional he goes into detail around key techniques to help with not losing guard position which is critical. The back takes really are a thing of beauty though and Mikey has proved on the world stage that he has world class back taking techniques.
