Really useful video, as a beginner to BJJ it's very useful to know what the common mistakes are, even some I might not be aware I'm making. There are a lot of videos on what TO do, but not often do you find one on what NOT to do. Highly recommend.

Finish on the Back by Ethan Crelinsten
Covers techniques not covered in my other back instructionals , Gordon, Danaher, Wiltse. I found Retaining the back against a turning escape, how to insert a long strangle arm, and how to properly lock the RNS to be the most useful parts. I haven’t made it to the rear triangle, juji, kimura portion yet. Very good information, recommend to anyone wanting to improve finishing their from the back.

New Wave Jiu Jitsu: No Gi Guard Passing by John Danaher
At the time that I'm writing this review, I've been training no-gi for about a year and a half. Before buying this instructional, I had watched plenty of clips from his other videos on YouTube. However, I was hesitant to purchase one of his instructionals because the amount of information in them looked intimidating, and I was a little concerned his teaching style would be a bit too dry and academic for my taste. This particular video caught my eye because I had become frustrated trying to combine various guard passes I saw on YouTube with my favorites from the ones I learned in class. I wanted more of a systematic approach and framework I could follow. I was pleasantly surprised to find that John's teaching style is more dynamic and engaging than I had expected. It's fun to see the bond he's developed with Placido, and their interactions definitely provide some comedic relief. Even though John is extremely thorough with the amount of detail he provides, I don't feel like any of it is unnecessary. Every section feels like a complete class with all of the subsections organized in a logical progression. There are also several principles which he consistently repeats throughout the entire instructional. As a white belt, the Opening A Closed Guard section has been tremendously helpful for me. I'm also slowly but surely working on bodylock passes. I have no doubt this is a resource I will keep coming back to again and again.

Shy is an excellent instructor! his knowledge and experience are endless, and he uses it to work with his students in a way others don't. I have been training with him for close to a year and man, it changed my life, for real. Not only you learn the technique and moves, but he also teaches you to be smarter, have a strategy, think, anticipate, and hunt down your opponent. From just doing the technique, Shy makes you do it perfectly and expects you to tap people out with it. Until then, you are back to practice. I encourage anyone training in BJJ or MMA to buy Shy's content, and watch, again and again. Shy doesn't disappoint, he is one of the best in this and a great human being, which is rare nowadays.

I really enjoyed this video and hope there are more volumes coming in this series. I specifically enjoyed the kuzushi sections and feel like it is much easier to set up takedowns of all forms.

The Essential Shin To Shin System by Shawn Williams
This is such an excellent look at a guard which has become my go-to when playing bottom- the video emphasizes when opponent is standing, but I’ve found success with the techniques even when opponent is in combat base. Shawn Williams touches on an excellent series of attacks which flow together seamlessly. Excellent instruction not only on shin to shin entries but also he touches on some great concepts for x guard, overwrap x, single leg x, as well as finishing takedowns and attacking leg locks. 5 stars for sure

I have the honour of getting to train with Dinu in person and it was the best decision I made for my BJJ game. Getting to watch his content is definitely the next best thing and I frequently use it to refresh and learn all the intricate movements I forget in class. Arm bars I particularly struggle with and how to spot the openings in different positions but I learned so much from this series and I look forward to continually coming back to it until it’s fixed in my brain.
