Pin Escapes and Turtle Escapes
Pin Escapes & Turtle Escapes: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
Game-changing instructional. Danaher breaks down escapes into pure logic — no guessing, just structure and control. The way he teaches framing, hip movement, and connection completely changes how you survive and turn defense into offense. A must-watch for anyone serious about leveling up their defense.

A Simpler Conceptual Breakdown
Guard Retention: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
Breaking down guard retention as a function of movement and connection - and how to develop the vision to see when to be defensive and offensive, makes this one of the most helpful of Danaher's instructionals I've used to date.
Perfect Example of What Danaher Does Best
Triangles Enter The System by John Danaher
Danaher's systematic approach to jiu jitsu is on display, but it felt especially potent here. His dissection of the five triangles and the other principles (especially the shoulder elimination principle) was incredibly clarifying.

I'm a believer
Systematically Attacking The Scrimmage: Upper Body Takedowns by Gordon Ryan
I have seen a lot of people online being sceptical of the word 'scrimmage' as they think Gordon is trying to force this concept too much. Having bought two of the three scrimmage instructionals now, I think he's absolutely right. It's been known for a long time that the stand up aspect of BJJ is lacking. Gordon is filling that gap with a style of stand up that is tailored specifically for BJJ. As usual everything explained excellently and demonstrated just the right amount. These scrimmage instructionals are going to be the sole focus of study to improve my stand up game for the foreseeable future.
