Gangster Grappling by Chael Sonnen
Gangster Grappling by Chael Sonnen
This is a fantastic video. It is a complete system for grappling in the style of Chael Sonnen. It is fairly basic content in terms of submissions, but it is a complete system from most positions. It is intentionally a little light on attacks from the guard as it is a submission wrestling video and not bjj. I got my first several submissions at the gym that I had been at for months using Chael's system. I highly recomend it and it pairs perfectly with his wrestling fundamentals video. If you invest in both it will put you well on your way to being a great submission grappler.

Excellent Instructional!
No Gi Closed Guard by Ffion Davies
Ffion Davies’ instructional on close guard is like no other, as she explains each movement with clarity and precision, making it easy to understand even for beginners. But what surprised me most was her inclusion of advanced attacks, which, though challenging, added depth to the learning experience. Her instructions, though complex at times, were delivered with such passion that I couldn’t help but be captivated. Overall, whether you’re just starting or a seasoned practitioner, Davies’ instructional is essential for anyone serious about improving their close guard game.

But what surprised me most was her inclusion of advanced attacks, which, though challenging, added depth to the learning experience. Her instructions, though complex at times, were delivered with such passion and professionalism that I couldn’t help but be captivated. I generally have issue with my attention span on instructional but not with this one. Powerful Combinations
Padbro's Canelo Style Boxing System by Ray Sabur
The purpose of this video is to give you explosive combinations inspired by Canelo to work on mitts and the heavy bag. The Sabur brothers are very successful in breaking down the combinations and demonstrating how they should look. It’s also impressive to watch them work together hitting the mitts. They emphasize throughout that Canelo’s style is “Offensively minded but defensively sound” so the purpose of each combination is to find powerful shots, frequently by using feints first, but then avoid the counter. I especially appreciated the section on combinations for the heavy bag because the mitt work combinations require an experienced pad holder, which is often not available for me outside of the gym. As a suggestion, it would helpful in future videos if an additional camera angle could show the footwork used during combinations, because often the camera shot does not show below the waist or knees, and the footwork wasn’t always totally clear. It would also help if they could explain the technique of the peel-off further. If you are looking for an instructional that teaches strong combinations to use in practice and sparring, this is a great choice.
