One of My Favorites
The Counter Throwing Wrestling Manual by Katelyn Jarrell
This is hands down one of the best videos I've purchased on fanatics. Katelyn does an excellent job of explaining the nuances of each throw clearly and concisely. Will definitely be adding more of her stuff to my catalog.

Guard Retention: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
I am currently focusing on what Gordon ryan said on YouTube video, what to focus as a blue belt. Sensei Jhon Danaher said almost like this once that he believes who you teach can change the situation and boom exactly my game is now on different level. Thanks so much.

Great Fundamentals
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Great strategies for underrated parts of the bjj game
Takedowns to Back Control by Nick Rodriguez
I love how Nick lays out plans for combining takedowns with back takes as BJJ guys often see takedowns as something separate from their game and prone to random scrambles. Nicky Rod lays out gameplans for your stand up game which, when implemented tie together your stand up game with finishing positions (rather than just taking 2 points and improvising from there)
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Foundational Defense
Pin Escapes & Turtle Escapes: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
This instructional is thoroughly detailed which is no surprise coming from Danaher. Although executing the moves will take some time, I now have a fundamental understanding of what's happening when I'm being pinned and what steps are necessary to get out.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Great functional training for judo throws you can do at home without any equipment.
Judo @ Home Workouts by Travis Stevens
Great functional training for judo throws you can do at home without any equipment. Simple and straight forward, taught from a world class judoka. Perfect if you want to do some extra practice without any workout partners. Got for free which was a nice gesture during the COVID period when a lot of gyms were closed

Closed Guard: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
Spectacular video. Very detailed, everything step by step. Prioritizing the control of one's own body and that of the rival above all things. I don't think there are many people who teach like Danaher does. Amazing

I learned alot of basics of leg attacks. Recommend to any beginners.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Unique Wisdom
You will find some very unique techniques here that you know have been pressure tested for decades. The high mount escapes are particularly useful and rare. Highly recommend.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Improve your skills to both escape and attack from the back position
The Back System by Henry Akins
This instructional covers a range of material related to the back position as a defender and also as an attacker. In my opinion the organisation of the instructional is not optimal, as chapters on defending and attacking are mixed and some related content are in different volumes. The instructional also includes chapters which are described as bonus chapters and for some of these chapters largely re-covering material that has previously been covered within the instructional, which I don’t mind as it re-enforces the material. The instructional has a total runtime of 2 hours and 56 minutes. Video (quality including range and focus) and sound are good with no issues to be concerned about. The instructional appears to have been filmed with a fixed camera. The available previews are consistent with the whole instructional. Henry Atkins clearly demonstrates the techniques with repetition, including providing easily understandable instructions. As with the other Henry Atkins instructionals that I have purchased he provides a relevant and useful discussion around each technique. One thing, in my opinion that makes a Henry Atkins instructional really worthwhile are the little details provided to make the technique work reliably and also often he provides a different approach to solving a problem. In summary, I found the content and presentation engaging. The instructional’s price is eye watering. I would recommend buying this instructional if you wish to improve your back techniques, but perhaps choose to do so when it is possible to take advantage of a daily deal opportunity or a site wide sale. My star rating is for the quality and content and excludes any consideration of the standard price. The next section of the review gives an overview of the content of this instructional, if this information interests you. Volume 1 covers defending the opponent’s attempt to attack your neck and escape the back control from a sitting position (i.e., seatbelt control with hooks in). Volume 2 covers preventing the opponent mounting you when you have just escaped from a sitting back control position; how to position yourself in a sitting back control position to make it more difficult for your opponent to effectively control you; foot locks when your opponent crosses their feet or when they are using a body lock triangle; how to escape the body lock triangle; and changing the focus from defending to now attacking from the back (sitting position) to use both of your arms, rather than using the seatbelt grip to more effectively attack the opponent’s neck. Volume 3 covers escaping back control when you are on all fours and in situations where the opponent has forced you flat; again, changing focus from defending the back to attacking from the back, how to use your legs to control the opponent and free your arms for attack from both a sitting position and also when you have their back and your back is on the mats (i.e. they are on top of you, but you control their back); a bonus chapter on escaping the body lock; and the final two chapters cover attacking using the rear ***** choke. Volume 4 covers a simplified bow and arrow choke; how to flatten the opponent in the situation where you are on their back and they are on all fours; following on from the previous position how to access the opponent’s neck when they are flat; how to access the opponent’s back starting from the mount position and from the closed guard; as a defender from the sitting position how to reliably fall to the underhook side; how to escape the single leg hook control; and how to escape if the opponent has a kimura grip when they are on your back or have you in side control.
Systematic Approach
Understanding The Distance On Top by Gui Mendes
I love how Gui was able to breakdown and provide analysis for better understanding of the concepts guided side-by-side with in-depth analysis.

Half Guard Domination 2.0 by Tom DeBlass
I’ve got middle age Jiu Jitsu and this half guard domination. The detail and explanations are great and Tom is quickly becoming a go-to for me. I like how each position is covered and almost steam of consciousness glides right to the next and it’s easy to keep engaged.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Pre-Middle Age approved
Middle Aged BJJ by Tom DeBlass
I’m looking straight at 40 soon and this instructional has really opened a lot of new strategies to deal with the young guns. Cardio isn’t what it used to be, kids, work, and training when I can - this has helped with keeping me in rounds and not gassing out after 2 rolls. Really enjoyed the live rolling commentary - helps break up just following move by move.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Very good Standing Offense
Total International Takedown Systems by Valentin Kalika
Valentin has a solid pedigree in coaching methodology and is a skilled Greco competitor although this curriculum transcends other wrestling/grappling styles. The skills he teaches offer a shortcut to mastery in combining upper-body controls and lower body attacks. He uses solid control ties and resolves the takedowns with exposure (if you're a wrestler) or with good pinning position (if you're a wrestler or grappler). Solid series.

Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Solid Askren Basics
Ultimate Askren Wrestling by Ben Askren
Good collection of bread and butter folkstyle techniques. Dated at this point and the AWA is clearly updating the materials as time passes with new topical video releases. This material is still solid and practical, but not necessarily comprehensive or the most current iteration of the Askren "method".
Innovative grip techniques for the gi
Innovative grip techniques for the gi. Nice selection of sweeps and submissions. Useful in the full and half guard. Waldo Zapata provides very clear explanations and I will be checking out his other instructionals as well

The Encyclopedia of Modern Mace Lifting Volume 1 by Greg Walsh
This is a one of a kind resource for learning how to properly utilize a mace as a tool in your strength and conditioning. I have had the privilege to learn from Greg through this resource and in-person. He is a wealth of knowledge but the way he delivers his information is like a sharp knife. He is precise and purposeful with his delivery of information. Don’t hesitate on getting into this resource if you are learning about mace lifting. Greg will be sure to help you!

Finish on the Back by Ethan Crelinsten
Ethan does a great job explaining controls on the back in a concise fashion. Detailed enough without getting lost on a subject or meandering. Definitely one of the best instructionals you can get.
