Great series by Isaac
Collar & Sleeve Guard a Systematic Approach by Isaac Doederlein
I purchased this video series because I have heard that the Collar / Sleeve Guard is the best Open Guard for the Gi. Isaac's videos were very detailed but were not redundant making them shorter videos but very succinct. I especially liked that Isaac performed the moves multiple times at different angles so that I could see the minute details of the positions and grips.

Viking Guards by Tommy Langaker and Espen Mathiesen
I saw this instructional on daily deal and bought it mainly because I've been watching a lot of Tommy and Espens matches lately and I really enjoy their styles. This instructional is great. I like the attacking options and back takes they show from collar sleave and de la riva. They're both very clear in their teaching of the techniques. I can't wait to get back and train when lockdown ends. I'm going to be practicing this combined with lachlan giles guard retention dvd to develop a trickier guard.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Highly Recommended Instructional On Triangles
Don't Be A Square by Jeff Glover
I love this instructional by Jeff Glover. He is very clear and detailed with his instructions and gives good insight to the moves. All techniques are shown in detail from different angles. I didn't consider triangles to be a main submission for me, but this instructional is quickly changing that. I drilled the first technique (Terere Triangle) on the weekend with a partner and was able to hit it during sparring on Monday. Double wrist control from full guard was also immediatrly applicable. The instructionals are short, well priced, immediately applicable, and entertaining. I highly recommend any instructional by Jeff Glover.

Ultimate Choke Escapes by Henry Akins
Objective of this instructional The aim of this instructional is to improve your ability to defend/escape chokes (i.e. to survive) with the added benefit of not wasting energy and ultimately making you more comfortable and confident in your grappling. Content Volume 1 (52 minutes) covers in summary, escaping/defending the cross collar choke (from closed guard top & mount bottom), the push-pull choke (attacking from closed guard top and defending from closed guard bottom), the Ezekiel (closed guard bottom), nut-cracker (from closed guard top), and head and arm choke (from side control bottom and mount bottom). Volume 2 (48 minutes) covers in summary escaping/defending the triangle (closed guard top), clock choke (turtle), and rear ***** choke including when you have been flattened. The rear ***** chokes escapes are so simple and impressive. Volume 3 (1 hour) covers in summary, escaping/defending the darce when either under or on top of your opponent, anaconda (from turtle), guillotine (from the knees and closed guard top) and chinstrap choke (from turtle). Volume 4 (49 minutes) covers in summary escaping/defending the papercutter (side control), bow and arrow (back and side control), bulldog (while on all fours), and guillotine (from standing). In addition, there are two additional chapters taught by one of Henry Atkin’s black belts (Matt Jones) dealing with escaping the baseball choke when passing an opponent’s closed guard, from knee ride bottom and from an attack when standing. This instructional is presented in a relaxed manner and utilises two black belt ukes. Henry Atkins demonstrates the techniques, provides clear instructions, and also provides a discussion around each technique. The pace is good. As with the other Henry Atkin instructionals that I have purchased I found it easy to stay engaged with the content. Sound and picture quality are good, however the video quality of the two bonus chapters dealing with escaping the baseball choke is poor. The angles of the technique displayed are appropriate. The total length of the instructional is 3 hours and 29 minutes long and it is comprised of 37 chapters. Clearly it is important to be able to escape chokes quickly and effectively, as they are such a common form of submission. This instructional is taught in the GI and would have to be the most comprehensive instructional on escaping chokes. The techniques are impressive - simple and effective. The only surprise is that triangle chokes are dealt with in two chapters, one dealing with a situation where the triangle has yet to be locked and relies on a postural response to defeat the opponent and a second technique that is described as a last ditch defence when the triangle has been locked. In summary, this is an excellent instructional and is a worthwhile addition to your instructional library if you wish to improve your ability to defend/escape chokes.

The Battle Tested Half Guard by Bernardo Faria
Mr. Faria does a great job of filing in some holes I had in my half guard game. I’m 43 and began my half guard journey at White Belt as I believed it was the best choice for me giving my age and build. I’am Currently re-watching the instructional and implementing what I am learning on the mat. Very good instruction and I believe it will help take my game to new levels.

Fundamentals of Side Control Escapes by Pedro Sauer
Master Sauer is a genius. Anything about jiu-jitsu he shares is gold. Listen, learn, and practice. On a side note his black belt assistant for this video is one of my instructors at my academy. You can imagine my surprise, not having known that Dave Porter was in assist on this video. So proud to be learning from Master Sauer online, and soon once again from Dave, in person, whom we all miss. Worth every penny.

The Sport of Kings: High Performance Mindset For Grappling by Gordon Ryan
I was hesitant to purchase this instructional, but with a daily deal and coupon code I spent $29. Here are my impressions. First, ALMOST ALL of the information in this instructional has actually already been explained by Danaher and Gordon across various podcasts, interviews, etc. If you're diligent, you can find most of this information for free on youtube. Second, if you have limited money and time, YOU WOULD PROBABLY BE BETTER OFF BUYING ONE OF HIS TECHNIQUE FOCUSED INSTRUCTIONALS. That being said, this instructional is a general guide to doing BJJ that I think will be very helpful for serious competitors. Gordon goes into detail on the nature and purpose of his specific training methodologies, approaches to competitions / unique rulesets, goal setting and general improvement, as well as his own experiences in getting to where he is now. There's really not any useless information here (that you might expect from a "mindset" instructional). You get roughly four hours of content, as well as a 20-page ebook that summarizes what he's saying. I would buy this on sale.
The whole series rocks!
I love the entire series and this addition is no exception! It was a very useful in understanding the movements involved in the Diamond Concept as a whole.

Best BJJ DVD I own
The Half Guard Anthology by Lachlan Giles
Best Jiu Jitsu DVD that I own. Really changed my game and helped me go from white to blue. When I first watched it, I was floored that someone would sell so much information publicly. I was thinking "Why would anyone put so much for sale? Doesn't that hurt him as a coach to release so much intellectual property?" I expect to be referencing this again and again, until I'm at least a purple belt, perhaps even after.

The Brabo/Darce Evolution by Dave Porter
Dave Porter is a fantastic instructor and the Brabo/Darce Revolution is a must have for any practitioner. This instructional contains some of the most creative set ups to the choke I’ve seen, especially from bottom positions. This series will truly enable you to hit the Darce from anywhere.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Fantastic for the older BJJ players
Middle Aged BJJ by Tom DeBlass
Fantastic instructional, great content with detailed examples and recommendations for the older grapplers. I’m 36, with a fused lumbar spine, this instructional speakers to me, not only is it inspiring, it’s extremely helpful. Professor Tom, gives you his insight and routines to not only keep you on the mats, but also to be more successful. The stretch routines, plus exercises are extremely important for the older guys like me, but it’s the instructions on how to slow the rolls down, while still being competitive that’s truly gold. Thanks so much Professor Tom for yet another amazing instructional, and for supporting us old guys!

Connected Reaction Armlocks and Spiral Armlocks by Paul Schreiner
I have always regarded Mr.Schreiner as one of the figures that completely changes my jiu-jitsu. I purchased all of his instructionals in bjjfanatics(NOGIhalf guard passing/GI closed guard/GI armlocks/GI escapes), and all of them are gems that I wish I've known all by myself. One of my bucket lists is to meet him in person, and ask for a roll. As I am a practitioner living in Korea, I hope to make my dream come true when the COVID ends.
