Great series
Pin Escapes & Turtle Escapes: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
Some great techniques for escaping pins, which if you're new to bjj like me, will be a life saver.
surprisingly not so annoying
The Berimbolo System Bundle by Mikey Musumeci
The only problem is he dives into minutiae. But he systematically goes through his berimbolo system, trying to cover every detail. My main insight so far is that he has some redeeming qualities, I like how patient he is when his uke/sister asks him questions. He has unique insights into jiu jitsu that I haven't seen anywhere else.
cool addition to z guard / half guard
The Possum Guard by Ricardo Vieira
Interesting video series that hopefully will give at least the possum sweep as an additional sweep from z guard.
making me look good
Guard Retention: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
So far my guard retention hasn't likely improved more than about 10%, but when people run to my side and I start the rolling inversion people freak out. I'm a 275lb 58 year old guy. And they freak out so much that they just seem to open up for attacks. I'm still learning the movements that Danaher considers essential components of the more complicated moves, but they are already making a difference for me.

An Excellent Closed Guard Instructional by a 15x IBJJF World Champion
The World Championship No Gi Guard System by Bia Mesquita
I highly recommend this no-gi closed guard instructional for both gi and no-gi. It's not obvious from the title, but this is a closed guard instructional. The techniques work well in both no-gi and gi. Bia emphasizes having multiple attack possibilities from each scenario, so she can adapt to her opponent's behavior. The triangle from closed guard that she teaches is faster and involves less telegraphing than any other triangle I've seen taught by other instructors, such as Roger Gracie or John Danaher. This is also the only instructional I've seen that teaches the Anaconda choke from closed guard. I liked this closed guard instructional so much that I came back and bought Bia's open guard instructional, too. Production Quality: The instructional's lighting is extremely good, so it doesn't matter that both instructor and uke are wearing black in front of a dark gray background. Everything can be seen easily. I never got confused about whose arm or leg was whose. Bia's voice could always be clearly heard. Her voice has a lot of reverb because of the recording environment, but this never bothered me. There is no annoying background noise. The sample videos are an excellent representation of both the video and audio quality of the entire instructional. About the Instructor: With 15 world titles (10 gi, 5 no-gi), Bia Mesquita is tied with Buchecha as the most successful IBJJF world champion of all time. She has more gi and more no-gi IBJJF world championship gold medals than any other female competitor. She is also a 2017 ADCC world champion. At the time I'm writing this review, she is a UFC fighter with a 6-0 MMA record. According to BJJ Heroes, the closed guard is her favorite technique. Total running time: 1 hour, 42 minutes. Alternatives: I own five closed guard instructionals from BJJ Fanatics. All of them are excellent. In terms of the quality of technique taught, I rank them in the following order: 1. The Roger Gracie Closed Guard System by Roger Gracie 2. The World Championship No-Gi Guard System by Bia Mesquita 3. The Gracie Secrets: Closed Guard by Kyra Gracie 4. Side Closed Guard Attacks by Xande Ribeiro 5. Connected Reaction: Clinch Closed Guard by Paul Schreiner
Great conditioning & skills acquisition tool

Systematically Attacking From Half Guard by Gordon Ryan
Honestly, it is not THE BEST INSTRUCTIONAL in the world for someone who is still a beginner because it covers so many details... BUT the lifetime of that instructional is about your all journey in jiujutsu. It goes so deep in the details you can use it at an intermediate or even expert level

Amazing
Catch style
Championship Level Catch Wrestling by Josh Barnett
Josh Barnett doesn’t just teach the double wristlock — he shows you why it’s the backbone of real catch wrestling. This video is championship-level knowledge straight from a heavyweight who actually finishes fights with this hold. What stood out immediately is how Barnett breaks down the position with zero fluff. He shows the exact mechanics: how to isolate the arm, how to peel the elbow away from the body, how to use shoulder pressure and hip angle to flatten an opponent, and how to transition from control → crank → finish without ever giving up top position. He teaches it the way real catch wrestlers apply it: no guard-pulling, no stalling, just brutal efficiency — pin threats, wrist control battles, and the constant threat of turning the lock into a shoulder, elbow, or rotational submission. The little details hit hard: head placement, hip pressure, and how to use your chest as a wedge while keeping your opponent belly-down. What I loved most is that Barnett shows the mentality behind the hook — you don’t chase the submission, you break your opponent down until the Kimura/double wristlock is unavoidable. It’s the old-school ****** philosophy, and you can tell Barnett is carrying the real lineage. If you’re a grappler who wants to build a top-heavy, pressure-based finish system — especially for catch wrestling — this video is a must-watch. It’s not theory, it’s not flashy, it’s the actual blueprint for breaking people down and making them quit. Easily one of the best double wristlock instructionals out there.
Great stuff

Roger Gracie Guard Passing System by Roger Gracie

Shoulder Crunch Series
Master The Move: The Shoulder Crunch Series by John Danaher
This series on the shoulder crunch position is completely changing my game and my approaches to how I perform moves involving the shoulder crunch. I always find myself in this position, but I've always felt like I needed to attain more knowledge. As usual, Danaher never fails to disappoint, and I hit this same Sumi Gaeshi on a 230 lbs. D1 wrestler today at practice while weighing at 162 lbs. This is a terrific series for me to obtain knowledge to teach my students as well as for me to continue learning and hitting it in competition as well!
Great instructional
